*whispers* Black Sails is one of my all-time favorite shows…
one of the things that hurts most about flintgates is that gates just… never saw flint as a threat to him. he knew flint was dangerous, knew he’d lied and manipulated and let good men die and used gates as protection a hundred times, and he was warned by billy and morley and fuck knows whoever else about how dangerous flint was, but gates never ever translated that as ‘flint is a danger to me’. anyone else in his situation during that final scene between them would never have fucking turned their back on flint, but. but. weeps.
also in an ideal world the pirate battle poll would've ended in a flint vs. silver match and the black sails fandom would have a full on civil war about it. but alas.

the dehumanization of russian citizens and the refusal to think of them as people separate from the atrocities of their government as is afforded to anyone else who lives in a "good" country is fucking insane. hey man you didn't fight and die in an attempt to overthrow the bush regime and end the war on terror so i guess you're a brainwashed pig and you deserve what's coming to you.

Lmao, you are almost starting to understand it, but somehow still refusing to.
YES, the US citizens do bear responsibility for the Bush administration and US's invasions and all the other actions. Just like the russian citizens bear responsibility for russia's current actions (and the ones before it). Just like the Germans were responsible for the nazis.
Choosing to be indifferent by saying, "eh, what can I do about my neighbor/brother/father/son/classmate killing people" does not free anyone from responsibility. It's just passive support of the killings.
The fact that Bush got elected for the second term amidst the Iraq war shows that most of the US citizens actually supported his actions even.
Of course everyone's responsibility is in varying degrees. And responsibility does not necessarily mean guilt (though it is also often a needed component for the processing of it all).
Most russian citizens support the current genocidal war, actively or passively. Just like all the previous wars, even way before putin. Their imperialist culture has taught them this, and there is no way out of it without processing their responsibility and acknowledging the guilt for it. Otherwise it will just keep happening the way it's been happening for ages. And the VERY few who don't support those wars and are trying to do what they can against it are not free of responsibility either - in fact it means they are actually taking responsibility for it.
And don't even tell me about "dehumanization" of russian citizens. They have dehumanized themselves, purposefully and methodically, in part by committing inhuman atrocities all over the world and in the largest part by refusing to take agency for literally anything.
I'm just going to point out that a sob story post about poor mistreated innocent russians has almost 50k notes, why any post about Ukraine and the horrors we are facing on daily basis, everyone, indiscriminately, old, child, queer, cis, male, is barely skirting 500 notes in a good day.
So who, really, is dehumanised in this scenario?
