If there was a way to run SUPER MEGA AD BLOCKER on this website I fucking would

“Please oh please open up your computer to a porn virus! If you don’t you’re evil!”

Freeloader Comin’ through!

We didn’t start this war internet users have with ads - We might have moaned about banner ads, but it was only when they started making noises when we might be listening to music or a podcast or whatever, causing two sound sorces at once, that we started trying to block ads universally rather than just a specific type of ad (pop ups).

And since then ads have gotten worse - Actual malware rather than merely breaking one of the fundamental sins of web design - though shalt not autoplay anything with sound. And the more aggressive a website is with ‘please turn off adblock’ the less I trust it to bother to vet ads and advertisers to make sure they’re not installing malware.

Not to mention that the idea that avoiding ads is “freeloading” is hilariously backward. Advertisement is a transaction between the platform and the advertiser, the user has no obligation to provide the views/clicks the platform has promised. Using an adblocker isn’t freeloading in the same way that leaving the room to get a snack during a commercial break isn’t cheating the tv network.

Ok y’all, I work as a web developer and I’m here to tell you that you are 100% right and that it’s shit. SO I’m going to tell you how to get around websites that block you from using their website if you’re using an adblocker.

Every website uses a language called JavaScript; long story short it’s a website language that allows developers to do the crazy shit you see on websites. Now the easiest thing to do is to disable JavaScript to stop them from knowing you have an adblocker:

Oh no! I’m blocked from viewing the website. It would be a terrible shame if I were able to right click and select the “inspect” feature

Click the three dots in the top right and open the “Settings” Menu

And then scrolled down to “Debugger” and checked the “Disable Javascript Option”

And then just refreshed the page

Reblogging to save my life

Saving lives with this reblog

Tell me what your FAVORITE self-help books are. Particularly ones that you've genuinely found practically helpful in either altering your behavior in a positive way, or in helping you better manage your relationships to others. It doesn't have to be an especially politically aware self-help book, but if it is that's certainly a bonus.

THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone who has shared their faves so far! This is extremely helpful for the research and writing of my next project.

This blog full-throatedly and actively supports detransitioners and it always wil.

Don't let the TERF hate movement trick you into thinking detransitioned people don't belong among us. They are our kin.

The vast majority of detransitioned people are still supportive of transgender people, and many of them remain in some way trans-identified themselves.

Detransitioned people have the same healthcare needs as us. They often require surgeries, hormones, laser hair removal, blockers, and reproductive healthcare assistance, just as we do. They face housing insecurity and domestic violence at elevated rates. They require support with legal documentation changes. They are marked as the 'other' and targeted for violence by cishet people who see no significant difference between us and them.

They are a member of the same political category as us with the exact same material interests. We must stand in solidarity with them. So many of them already stand with us.

Detransition is not a tragedy. I know many people who are quite happy in their detransitions. Many of them are nonbinary-identified after having identified as trans women or men; some never desist in their identities, but had to cease using hormones for health reasons. Some are fluid. Others were incorrect about their identities due to trauma and are thankful to have had the opportunity to explore who they were and heal. Others were simply trying on a different identity for a time and are better allies for it.

I never ceased being trans when I medically detransitioned. I was just filled with shame. My shame was a byproduct of living in a transphobic society, and my choice to stop T was a temporary means of coping with forces beyond my control. I needed that break to move forward with confidence. I'm now a happily medically transitioned man on T who has undergone top surgery. Everything happened in its time.

All people deserve support in their transitions. That includes detransitioned people.

Sarah Jane Baker, the trans woman who was arrested for saying "punch terfs" at London Pride, is now on hunger strike and refusing all food and fluids until she is moved to a women's prison.

Just so we're clear, moving her to a women's prison would be the bare fucking minimum the state could do. She shouldn't be in prison at all, the police and parole board only changed their decision not to arrest her due to pressure from the Home Office. Once again, Suella Braverman is an overreaching authoritarian piece of shit.

Fire to the prisons!

Free Sarah Jane!

robot posting: you can buy a mini broom and dustpan from the dollar store to be a roomba for hours at a time.

Currently, I sleep with a 15 lb blanket. It no longer feels particularly heavy. If I continue to pile more weighted blankets on top of it, I can get strong as fuck in my sleep. Eventually I’ll look like Goku just from sleeping

This is my autism workout plan

1. I have night terrors and thrash

2. I get a weighted blanket to calm myself

3. I thrash under the weighted blanket from the night terrors

4. I get stronger, I add another weighted blanket

5. I thrash under 2 weighted blankets.

:(
