thinking about taissa in yellowjackets and mental illness specifically when she's talking to shauna and shauna is like i had all these plans that i didn't do because of the crash whereas taissa literally did everything she planned... but looking at their lives like shauna seems so stuck in the past married to her dead best friend's boyfriend and the others too all have this problem to an extent like nat especially is actively wallowing in her misery as an adult completely incapable of escaping it even temporarily without drugs but taissa is, if anything, the most stuck in the past because she absolutely refuses to acknowledge what happened and it shapes her life entirely, her life that doesn't feel real... her happy marriage is a farce her dream of running for office is completely unviable because of people's knowledge of her past, her relationship with her son being that he's ultimately afraid of who she is 'deep down', her other self, but like the other self IS her! like it's her pain her trauma and she literally doesn't want anyone to see it. and she's RIGHT to, because when they see it, they're afraid, they stay away from her, they say she's dangerous, terrifying. and that's straight up because they don't know her. only the other yellowjackets know her truly. everyone else literally only knows the front she puts on, even her wife and son. she's already fighting such an insane uphill battle as a black lesbian in general but specifically in politics, and everyone wants to KNOW. they want to know what she did and they want to see her bleed, they want to see her break, and she is so steadfast to not let them see it - but she can't escape it. you can't escape your trauma and what it has done to you, and that's all she wants, but it's boiling over, it's breaking her at the seams.

oh yeah have i ever told yall of the academic war i have been an unwilling soilder in for the past two years

okay SO. i have two professors that both teach this one subject, but different classes. they have different last names, so i didnt know this at first and espically since they are academic RIVELS at my school, but they are MARRIED. but for the past 8 years they have been in an academic WAR of geospatical sciences data. more accurately, the raster vs vector data debate. i am personally on the side of "both have their pros and cons and can be utalizied to the utmost efficency" but both professors are like, DEADLOCKED in insistanting one is better then the other

so, professor A is my mentor. i like him a lot, and he was the main person that taught me the most abotu Eris and ArcGIS. professor B is a professor i had one for class, and shes nice and knows a lot of little tricks about Eris programming but mostly relies on arcMAP because shes the raster data professor.

and THESE MOTHERFUCKERS. have written no less then 30 papers that is basically like a "re: re: re: re: re: re: vector data is better then raster fuck you" but like, Professionally. and they leave stupid notes in the footnotes that read "Reguardless of Professor A's opinions reguarding the efficency of Vector data, Raster data has a more efficant polygon computing rate and is the most commonly used program on interplantaring mapping" and its HILARIOUS

ive read all of their papers, and its basically like reading an email chain between a married couple arguing over the colors of the kitchen backsplash for their new home. its HILARIOUS. but obviously, because of their differnet last names and because they act like they HATE each other, NOT VERY MANY PEOPLE REALIZES THEYRE MARRIED

until like LAST WEEK

professor B publishes a paper that casually drops the word "husband"

and obviously all the students are like "oh i didnt know u were married!" because we read that shit like how white suburban mothers read People Magazine

and shes like "yeah, its Professor A"

and we all FLIPPED. THE FUCK. OUT

we thought the framed picture of the two of them on professor A's desk was ironic because hes that type of guy

like, you gotta undestand. these two have gotten into YELLING matches in hallways. these two refuse to go onto trips with each other. but apparently they have a system where they quite LITERALLY leave all of their work at work and drive home in seperate cars and literally NEVER mention work at home. it is SO funny

as the sag aftra/wga strikes are on. this is your reminder to listen to wolf 359, the bestest audio dramedy about aliens, vaguely inaccurate space station and star science, explorations of identity, spapitalism (space capitalism) at its worst, moral dilemmas of the highest calibre, made up board games, the entirety of s1e11 am i alone now, lathered with so many incredible moments thatll make you say, good for her!!!!!!!!

just watched s7e23 preventative medicine for the first time!!! and i. didnt. like it as much as i thought i would. dont get me wrong i really wanted to and there were parts i likeddddd

i have to admit by the last little bit where hawkeye and bj fight while hawkeyes getting dressed for surgery and basically everything hawkeye does hits well for me- i think its heartbreaking because its so in character for him to do this. the lines about how he hates himself??? (explodes into a million pieces) the rest of the episode feels bad to watch since its building up all this about colonel lacy being horrible and then we have to turn around and draw a line that even someone like him shouldnt have medical malpractice conducted on him lol and it sucks to have hawkeye in a less than favorable light because we like him!!!!

but i guess im not sure it stuck the landing very well?? bj being hawkeyes conscience makes sense but im not sure what kind of precedence theres been wrt him being the ideological opposition. keeping in mind that bj's typically been on neutral ground/a peacekeeper and obvs the serialized nature of the show makes it so that characters have to fit archetypes for the purposes of an ep more than overarching character arc....... so whats bugging me about it??? like hawkeye was kinda right but also im not sure what high horse bj is coming from idk!!!! something feels weird and not in the moral dilemma kind of way that sth like w359 does rly well. (tangential but its only been recently that theyve started to fight- which im living for lol i think its more interesting i want to see them throw hands)

maybe im having cognitive dissonance with how this kind of appendectomy wouldve flown under the radar as comedic rebellion in s1-3.
