you can’t go back (7)

warnings: depression mention, injury mention, misunderstandings, arguing, lmk if i missed any

His eyes had been open for a while now, and yet Virgil still wasn’t entirely sure he’d actually woken up.

He’d found himself sleeping deeper the longer he’d been stuck on this planet, and while part of him was worried about the possible detrimental effects of being dropped in a new atmosphere, most of him knew it was because there was no point in being on guard.

Even if he kept his rest cycles light and easily disturbed, all he was doing was waking himself up enough to remember that nearly all his defenses had been forcibly lowered.

There was also the fact that waking violently often made his aux limbs automatically strain against their restraints in a way that sent twinges of almost-pain down his spine.

After the first time he’d jerked awake to a Human’s gentle jostle and nearly pulled a muscle, Roman and Logan had taken to opening the barn door loudly— much louder than he knew they could open it— to alert him if he was sleeping, which he usually was. It was what he spent most of his time doing, at this point.

He still didn’t understand where he stood with the Humans.

the end of being alone (5)

warnings: illness, panic, trauma responses, arguing, mentions of triage & associated terms, mentions of death & grief, misunderstandings, stressful situations, first ever non-fluff installment of this fic tbh, cliffhanger

Something was wrong with the Human.

It was telling of how strange his life had become recently, that the realization was tinged with worry rather than suspicion in Roman’s mind.

Maybe it was foolish to lower his guard simply because Virgil was just a kit, but he couldn’t help it. He hadn’t anticipated that Human younglings would still be so… well, young.

It helped that even when the Human got frustrated or upset, he’d never gotten violent with one of them. Strong emotions affected him just as intensely as any developing Crav’on pup, but there were no violent tantrums or screaming matches or whatever the Human equivalent of clashing horns was.

If anything, he seemed far more prone to flee. The mere sight of their ship had consistently had a negative effect on the kid, but he’d always been more fearful than aggressive about his rejections.

Ghost managed to force his eyes open, looking at Leo with the same deep sadness that he usually hid when the kids were around. His voice was merely a breath. “You look so much like him sometimes…”

“What?” Leo whispered, eyes widening.

Companion piece for Ell's comic about our boys teaming up in the @tmntaucompetition ! It's so cute I had to do something.

I forgot the tag lol @intotheelliwoods

Big thanks again for the perfect 50/50!! Teamwork and friendship rule the day again!

Leo doesn't expect anyone to be able to see him or hear him. That the other ghost Leo can is already surprise enough, and they had lots of fun between matches.

But other than that he doesn't get his hopes up. It's not like he needs anyone to see him; he participates well enough by puppeteering Donnie (who lets him do it, though with an excessive amount of complaining), so he's not completely bored. And other than the times when he goes to hang out with the other ghost, his brothers are always right there with him, and they make sure he doesn't feel left out.

So it's fine. Everything is fine and cool and dandy and he doesn't need anything more.

Here's an art/info dump about this stupidly cute idea that's been rotating in my brain for three day.

(the first comic here is just how they first met. they ended up in the same alley, pestering the same cat without noticing. Then the cat left and they notice they're not alone lol)

(Second is Donnie 'talking' with Mikey for the first time. He only uses Mind Mend to communicate and is just as surprised as Mikey to find it worked on him. (it has only worked with Leo before this))

I'll put the rest under a break b/c i will be going off about this and i don't want it to take up your entire feed.

“Alright, I’m comin’ in,” Leo huffed, climbing up onto the bed and grabbing onto the hammock. “Move over, Peepaw!”

“Leo,” Ghost complained as the hammock rocked and Leo clambered in. He was forced to adjust so Leo didn’t fall out, scrambling to grab his flailing arms and legs.

“Just a little– Yeah, no, that’s my leg–” Leo grinned as he purposefully kneed and elbowed Ghost in the plastron and sides, not hard enough to injure but enough to hurt. Ghost grunted and shot him a glare and Leo only smiled in response.

Ghost finally grabbed him and pulled him fully into the hammock, cradling Leo on top of his chest. Leo sank down on him, resting chin on his shoulder and burying face in the pillow beside him.

“You’re such a handful,” Ghost muttered, rubbing over his shell slowly. His expression was softened, not full of the deep sadness Leo sometimes caught on his face.

Ghost in the Shell my beloved! This scene had me in a choke hold it’s so cute I am a mess. Literally such a great fic!! I’m so obsessed with it!! @bluepeachstudios is a master and I am always gushing over their works!
