every atom of me and every atom of you

hi everyone. i’m so sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately, anbara @sharmou6 passed away yesterday morning, inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. this doesn’t feel real at all to me, oh my God, but um. i just wanted to make sure that all his friends and mutuals on here know. sol @pure1ove and i think the best way to honor anbara’s dear memory & channel our love for him into something meaningful would be to support & share the fundraiser he set up for his partner, a brown lesbian living in an abusive household. i’ve attached the link below. thank u all so much, please take care 💝🌟❣️

I know I haven’t been political on here for a good while, but I just wanted you all to know that no matter which president wins, it’s more and more important to get involved with your local politics and grassroots issues.

If we have to suffer another 4 years of shit, focus focus focus on your local government or more specific issues because that’s often where you can really make a difference. Even if Biden wins, STILL focus on local and listen to underrepresented, marginalized, and at-risk demographics, and try to do your research. We can all help!

No politician will ever be 100% perfect, but keep up with progressive politicians like AOC, The Squad, Bernie Sanders (just to name a few), and get into the habit of emailing your reps. Even if it’s just editing and personalizing mobilization emails that have been pre-written, it goes a long way.

Support Black businesses and artists. Stay in-touch with grassroots organizations like BLM, Voto Latino, Standing Rock, Lakota People’s Law Project. Many of these groups have websites that can help you unpack the issues and find ways to support the causes.

I know it’s hard not to feel discouraged and disillusioned, but navigate your emotional needs, take your dips and take your time, then turn those negative feelings into motivation. Our country is messed up and will still be messed up even if Biden wins, but there are things we can do

there is going to be an arguably even more important election than the presidency happening on january 5th in georgia. the two senate seats in their state did not reach enough of a majority in this election to decide a winner, so theyre doing a “run-off election”.

if these two seats are won by democrats they will flip the senate to a MAJORITY for democrats. we will have the presidency, the house AND the senate if the democratic candidates in georgia win. the policies biden promised could have a better chance at being passed!

if you live in georgia PLEASE vote for the democratic senate candidates on january 5th

if you do not, i recommend donating to the candidates election fund! :)

Remember it is perfectly possible to both be aware that the struggle is going to continue and there is always more work to do AND feel deeply, profoundly relieved and even celebratory right now.

Let yourself enjoy any feelings of happiness, comfort or relief you have. Life is short and hard, and joy is a worthy and wonderful thing.

i know criticizing the south as being backwards and regressive is all the rage right now, but actually the south is home to some of the most visionary, radical, progressive activists in the whole damn country and yes i will die on this hill. georgia flipping blue is a testament to those activists and hopefully gives you a taste of just how important this work is, and how these southern organizations need our support now more than ever.

people who live in progressive/liberal areas need to stop scapegoating the south and start working with us for our collective liberation. what happened in georgia is great, but it’s unfair to rely on the most marginalized to save us (white people) from ourselves. on that note, hey fellow white people! we didn’t invent white supremacy, but we inherited it. it’s up to us to demolish it, and fall in line with BIPOC-led organizations who are doing the work. you can (and should) help even if you don’t live in the south.

here’s a list of southern organizations doing great work and how to donate to support them.

  • Fair Fight. “We promote fair elections in Georgia and around the country, encourage voter participation in elections, and educate voters about elections and their voting rights.” Donate here.
  • Southerners on New Ground (SONG). “SONG is a home for LGBTQ liberation across all lines of race, class, abilities, age, culture, gender, and sexuality in the South. We build, sustain, and connect a southern regional base of LBGTQ people in order to transform the region through strategic projects and campaigns developed in response to the current conditions in our communities.” Donate here.
  • Gideon’s Army. “Our mission is to act collectively, boldly and strategically as a unified force for all children. We eliminate the root causes of the prison pipeline, save our children from death and incarceration and guide them on a secure path to success.” Donate here.
  • Free Hearts. “A Tennessee state-wide organization led by formerly incarcerated women that provides support, education, and advocacy in organizing families impacted by incarceration, with the ultimate goals of reuniting families and keeping families together.” (Has also been doing a lot of work recently helping formerly incarcerated folks vote for the first time!)
  • Project South. “A Southern-based leadership development organization that creates spaces for movement building.” Donate here.
  • Southern Movement Assembly. “An organizing strategy for community and movement governance…We believe that we are stronger together, and we participate in grassroots democracy to exercise political power at the community, city, state, and regional levels.” Donate here.
  • Black Voters Matter. “To increase power in marginalized, predominantly Black communities. Effective voting allows a community to determine its own destiny.” Donate here.
  • The Equity Alliance. “A Nashville-based grassroots non-profit advocacy group that seeks to equip citizens with tools and strategies to engage in the civic process and empower them to take action on issues affecting their daily lives.” Donate here

if you know of great southern orgs, especially if they’re local to you, please add them! if you live in the south and don’t know of any orgs, i guarantee there is a stacey abrams doing great work near you. get engaged with local efforts for equality!

ugh i don't even use this site anymore but i just had to say this somewhere. i'm so fucking proud, not of biden or harris or their team, but of every american who showed up. everyone who came out and voted, everyone who protested over the last four years, everyone who participated in community organizing to protect and support their neighbors and to make sure that the republican party's stranglehold on this country would not last. i'm so proud of everyone who held their noses and voted for a not ideal candidate because they recognized the absolutely present danger of the other option. we did it. let's exhale and take a moment to remember that biden didn't do this, the democratic party didn't do this, trumps mishandling of covid didn't do this. WE did this by showing up and being mad and being hopeful and being so loud that no amount of suppression could drown us out. we did it. now let's do something more.

chadwickboseman It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.
Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.
⁣A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. ⁣⁣
It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther. ⁣He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. ⁣
The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time. ⁣⁣

For the the first time in millions of black children’s lives, they got to see themselves as both warrior and king. Your contribution to the culture was invaluable. You truly were the hero of an entire generation. Wakanda forever and ever and ever king. Rest easy.

i did my research and donated. this is the easiest way to donate to the lebanese red cross.

the Lebanese red cross is a charity that many Lebanese citizens endorse and are asking for others to donate to. As of right now (11:30 EST on the fifth), it’s the most up-to-date info I can find. If you don’t know what’s up, Beirut suffered a chemical explosion the size of a small nuke (which is still fucking huge.) They have a host of other serious and deadly crises (humanitarian/political/social) going on right now, too, and the explosion destroyed their main port, where a lot of their trade and necessary supplies (such as medical supplies) come in. Please, if you can, help Lebanon recover from this blow and tackle the rest of their problems. They need help.
