remember the love chorris arc ? (the virtual fictional girlfriend one where Gintoki enter the game to snap Shinpachi out of his bullshit, but accidentally kill his girlfriend’s son, thus earning her hatred, and Sayaka-chan, Sougo’s girlfriend ends up being very much not an M)

A lot of the participants are very inexperienced otakus who ends up with not a proper person but just some weird extremely unrealistic fantasy (Shinpachi’s for example) that isn’t even remotely like a person, but in other cases, the girlfriend end up taking the qualities that the player unconsciously wants (best example is Okita, who doesn’t really have any interest in particular in the M girls he meets, and the people his age he has chemistry with (Kagura, Nobume, or even Kamui if you squint) are very much not M or even submissive. And those otakus whose girlfriends he stole are people who actually enjoyed being NTRed.

The exceptions were Okita and Gintoki who are more experienced than the rest and have a better idea of what they want from the rest, it’d be funny if a player already had someone specific in mind, and the virtual girlfriend started mirroring that, even if it wasn’t a nice or attractive trait. But Pinko-san is clearly for the gag, right ? It was funny to see Gintoki being haunted and fearing for his life and sanity.
