got told at lunch "you feel like Tumblr Incarnate" and i had to tell them i've been here for 13 years and counting. i was here three years before dashcon happened. i saw the mishapocalypse. i survived the gigapause. i've been here longer than the shoelaces post. i've been here since it was hipsters versus fandom and i played both sides extensively by overdoing the sepia filters on everything and making my own flashing galaxy gif edits for my fandom posts. i'm every tumblr. it's all in me

- 99% of callout posts are bullshit and just petty personal drama someone is escalating to get even on a grudge. do not engage with these, do not freelance as a cop
- DNIs do not work. accept this. internalize that people you don't like will see your posts and engage with them. this is unavoidable and the sooner you make peace with it the freer your mind will be. block the freaks and don't sweat the small stuff
- building a tight knit circle of fellow weirdos who vibe with your particular quirks and taste is infinitely more rewarding and sustainable than chasing the biggest numbers
- don't respond to bad-faith arguments or bad takes; just block people, blacklist tags, filter post content, and move on. don't feed the trolls (or the bigots)
- don't hate-follow
- don't tag your hate (ex. if you're posting about how much you hate a ship, don't tag it as that ship, etc.)
- don't feel obligated to keep following someone who posts stuff that upsets/depresses/angers/bores you just because you know them really well, or because you're mutuals, or because you used to like what they post. following is nothing personal and neither is unfollowing
- op doesn't know you; avoid parasocial relationships
- don't pick fights or reblog posts just to disagree/argue
- spread joy and positivity in your circles

i think itβs a pretty common headcanon that whenever there is a spider, annabeth freaks the fuck out. which is super weird to most people, because sheβs likeβ¦ the bravest person ever. even if you donβt know sheβs a demigod, sheβs just a badass. but if thereβs a spider, sheβs screaming bloody murder and jumping up on tables and counters. and of course, percy always comes and kills it for her. no matter what heβs doing or where he is.
but i think what would be even weirder for people (who donβt know her extremely well) is how seriously percy takes it. i feel like girls being scared of spiders and having their male partners come kill it is such a basic βweak white girlβ stereotype. and it usually is funny, even to the one whoβs scared. so when annabeth does this and starts screaming for percy, people would start laughing. naturally, right? haha itβs so funny that annabeth chase is so scared of bugs. and after percy runs in and takes care of it, they would expect him to be laughing too and poke fun at her.
except itβs the exact opposite. thereβs nothing funny about his expression. his jaw is hard-set and his sea green eyes are full of nothing but concern. he does a thorough examination of the surrounding area, makes absolutely sure there arenβt others and gets rid of any webs, and then goes straight to her. and his first question, every single time, is βyou okay?β nothing but concern and support. and if the legendary fearless annabeth chase needs her boyfriend/husband to carry her across the room, because she doesnβt want to step on the rug now, you know dam well heβs gonna carry her across the room without a second thought. and youβd better not laugh at her, or else percyβs gonna give you the most scolding glare youβve ever received, and itβs gonna make your arm/neck hairs stick straight up and your blood turn to ice.
and it would take people off guard every single time. because heβs not laughing at her. he takes her fear completely seriously. and itβs because he knows about her past. heβs seen her face her worst horrors. he knows what happened with archane.
he knows exactly why sheβs so scared of spiders, and to him, thereβs nothing funny about it.

that post about how young people use computers these days (or rather, how they donβt, instead preferring to use their phones) got me wondering
by computer skills i mean basic skills like typing, navigating menus/directories/folders, using word processors or other programs, using removable storage, etc. NOT computer science or programming.
#i regularly mix up my left and right u think i can type without looking#i can type i use all the fingers and everything#but i also forget how to spell words without seeing the letters#so i look cause otherwise id forget my thoughts tryna figure out how to spell and remembering which finger was the A

saw someone on instagram say βyou shouldnβt post your art until itβs goodβ and that comment filled me with rage so i want to say to every beginner artist or artist who feels their art is not improving no matter how long theyβve been at it. i love you and i love your art and everything you post bears part of you and that is so beautiful. block everyone who says otherwise they are not entitled to freely consume what they rag on.
