tidal lock

[ a response to moon by jin. ]

your smile, juxtaposed to the minuet of mars. you say you’re just a moon to me, and yes, you are.

you shine, a lantern of love in these dahlia-fields of darkness. the waves are yours to wield, the stars are yours to swallow.

( darling, yours is the glory gods were created to govern. )

so many skeletal stanzas of sorrow and sweetener, oh.  i have lost you to the liminality of love.  is that why you call me earth? because i have you in phases — in pieces — in promises?

you’ve slumbered long enough in the shadow of the sun. said you’d stay by my side, but we are separated by  the wingspan of seven worlds.

my love, lunar orbit is the loneliest outcome : to spend eternity in service of a society that has only ever sought to escape

( i write poetry about the moon because it’s so easy to compare her to you. )
