"Someone - was it van Gogh? - said that orange is the colour of insanity. Beauty is terror. We want to be devoured by it, to hide ourselves in that fire which refines us."
The Secret History - Donna Tartt
Peeta’s fav color is orange... coincidence?
He loses himself to insanity.
Katniss is a representation of fire, of burning.
The burnt bread.
The fire bombs over 12. The bombs that kill Primrose.
The burn scars across Katniss’ body after the war.
I’m sure there are so many other examples I am not thinking of.
The use of fire as symbolism within the Hunger Games will never cease to astound me.
It may go back to that theory, about the author’s religious beliefs, but I am not in a place to describe it here.
oh wow, i gasped and tears started welling up my eyes, good lord
― Sylvia Plath, The Journals of Sylvia Plath
“my darling, my darling. my brave, beautiful darling… listen to me—look at me. look at me, look at me. all that I am is us. all that I could be, you already are. you’re so strong, you’re so wise, you’re so powerful. you’re so grumpy in the mornings. you’re so… you’re so close to God, without even having to utter His name. I want to make you laugh, and make you safe—and I’m not going to live in a world where our children’s children don’t get to make you laugh when they tumble on the grass in front of us when we’re old. hmm? can you try? if you try, then I’ll try, too.”
Little Women (2019) // Simon de Beauvoir // The Woman Who Rides Like a Man (Tamora Pierce) // The Color Purple // Persuasion (Jane Austen) // Catherine, Called Birdy (2022) // tumblr.com
Just finished Catherine Called Birdy and it's giving major "give me back my girlhood it was mine first" and I'm not crying there's just the thrill of unadulterated pre and early teen girl emotions not being forced into society's expectations of womanhood and allowed to feel their feelings and speak their emotions and be a child in my eye
This is me trying is for the girls with middle child syndrome, the one who always got misunderstood, the blacksheep of the family, the one who act a lot mature than their age, the one with family issues, the one who cannot breathe without escaping through poetry, books, songs and movies, the dead poets society lovers, who wants to achieve a lot things but don't know how, who act cold, distant and always walk around with 'Idgaf' attitude because they think that if people knew that their action and words are affecting them so badly they would lose some kind of inner war, the found family lovers. For the girls who find peace in solitude, who still have an active account on tumblr or any fanpage which isn't doing great but where they can be themselves or post anything, who believes that being understood is a privilege they never had, the one who always assume the worst in every situation.
Update on Iran. The Iranian parliament says protestors will now be sentenced to death.
@staff still not putting Iran under things we care about.

#stopexecutionsiniran is the hashtag she spoke of in the video.
14000 is the official number of people that have been arrested for protesting their basic right as humans. That is who they are going to kill. 14000 people, children as young as 7 years old.

Mahsa Amini, an update
Reacting to the tragic death of Mahsa, iranians are protesting against the regime for 44 years of terror and cruelty. Woman are burning their hijabs which they were forced to wear for whole 4 decades. Islamic Republic is oppressing ppl by shooting and hitting them (including a random 10 y/o girl). The Internet connection keeps glitching and we don't know how long we have access to it (they do it so we can't send the videos of them killing ppl in streets to the world).
What do we want? Overthrowing Islamic Republic.
Im posting this so you'll know if i dissappear, the country is in Internet blackout. Then i hope you ppl keep telling our story to the world so we all can help and finish the felonies of Islamic Republic ❤
