I love (and by love, i mean it makes me want to throttle them) how Charlie confides in his parents that he and Nick are dating, and they IMMEDIATELY weaponise that knowledge. It's not just the immediate application of an open doors policy, it's also the derogatory "oh THATS why you haven't stopped talking about the Paris trip" and it's the fact that they INSTANTLY start using "you can't see Nick until you've done [task]" as a threat. It's the "your coursework has slipped ever since you started seeing that boy" it's the implied "he has been a very bad influence on you" it's the "if you don't get up to scratch then you won't be going to Paris [with nick]" when you just KNOW that they didn't have any of these concerns back when they thought Charlie and Nick were just good friends, and you KNOW they wouldn't have used cancelling the Paris trip as a threat if they didn't know that Charlie's boyfriend was going on the same trip.

Like, he comes to them of his own volition and confides in them something that he's clearly succeeded at keeping totally secret, given how surprised they were, and they IMMEDIATELY, before even 5 seconds have passed, start using that information as a weapon. GREAAAT example of good parenting, right there (sarcasm). I'm sure Charlie will confide in you again in the future (also sarcasm).
