It can be hard being a black girl on social media because you’re inundated with tweets and memes about how ugly and undesirable you supposedly are, or you see pornographic images of women like you; our body parts chopped up and scrutinized and turned into sexual objects, you see videos of black women being abused by everyone, you’re told you deserve the bare minimum and if you’re darker than a certain shade even that’s too good for you, people come at you a lot harder when they disagree with your opinions and call you all sorts of foul shit with few people coming to your aide, and you’re expected to protest and serve as an attack dog to the same people who do the aforementioned bullshit. It’s horseshit and I understand why so many of us disengage altogether.
