So today I heard a guy say something along the lines of "we didn't have pronouns back in my day" and I just. What. Like sir even if you don't think that there are more than two genders, an opinion that I don't agree with but will respect, Yes you had and actively have pronouns. Pronouns aren't even just gender specific. Pronouns are just part of grammar. In the sentence "We went to the park yesterday", 'We' is the pronoun used. It's just fucking English. Saying things like "pronouns don't exist" means not only do you antagonize and violate people who are different from you and their right to exist because of your own ignorance and blind privilege, but you also just suck at English.

I am fucking pissed and anyone who heard the news about Willow will know why. Went from bury your gays to cancel them reaaaall fast. First Warrior Nun, then Willow. I'm dead serious when I say we need to fucking riot about this. I joke about this all the time but honestly I'm so fucking DONE with gay erasure in media. We deserve to have representation even if you don't like it. We deserve to be able to see ourselves in the media we watch even if you hate us for it. You know what? Here's a thought, if you don't like gay people, leave them alone. Stop erasing them from history and culture. It's pretty damn simple. You don't agree with something? Don't fucking associate with it. It's not 'pushing our agenda' or 'shoving it in your faces', you fucking hypocrites, it's fighting to have a chance at being known in a positive light, fighting to show queer children that they DON'T deserve what people say they do. Hell, apply this to any of the world's problems. Racism, Sexism, religious or ethnic differences, political differences, etc (All things lead pretty commonly to GENOCIDES, by the way, including the topic of this post). If you don't agree with something then LET IT BE. You don't have to like it or agree with it, but it's pretty damn simple to not kill, harm, objectify, slander, or erase them. Yeah, I'm aware I'm talking about a fantasy TV show, but at this point it's cancellation is so much bigger than that. It's about human rights, and it's not fair to us that we can't be seen or heard or taken seriously in any situation without people shutting us down and politicizing us. Also, don't tell me it's because the show didn't do well. We all know that's bullshit.

Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Exactly this! And you know what? Queer shows will prob get less funding due to the track record created by these streaming giants.

And you only mentioned 2 shows..

Where do we even start?

Willow

Warrior nun

First kill

The wilds

Paper girls

Everything sucks

Teenage bounty hunters

1988

Batwoman

The list goes on of course..

And what pisses me off the most is that straight people don't even realise what's going on. They don't understand how it feels for us to have every tiny piece of representation cancelled all the time.

I don't want to watch 4 seasons of YOU or some other bullshit that's so poorly written, but there we are..

I'm just pissed today, I really am. And I was even expecting it but every time I get my hopes up and it's just fucking painful man

You are absolutely correct, and even my totally straight parents are getting mad about this shit. My Dad asked me why paper girls was cancelled a while ago, and I told him. He was also pretty pissed, not only because the show was cancelled, but because he's a very firm believer that everyone should be able to voice their opinions and point of views without being oppressed, and that's coming from a man who's still pretty stuck to the beliefs he held when he was a kid and times were different. If he's willing to expand his view of others and take them into consideration, then any number of other conservative people (And everyone else, including us, respect goes all ways) should be able to as well. Acceptance, or at the very least not oppressing the group you disagree with, is not a hard thing to do. Also, I feel obligated to continue the list from before and including bury your gays in it as well.

The owl house

The 100

Voltron

Tangled the series

The Winx saga

Gossip girl

Legacies

Q-force

Thank fucking God She-ra, Atypical, and Wynonna Earp escaped or I might actually cause Ragnarok.

Update: Willow is NOT officially cancelled permanently anymore, though production is delayed by about a year or so, and despite that (although I am VERY, VERY happy about it) Please don't disregard the original message as a whole. But definitely go celebrate the news of the not-exactly-cancellation!

why does this have 32k notes? it’s just a picture of a knife in a ranch bottle, is there some unspoken joke that 32 thousand people share? what is going on here, i dont get it. it’s just a fucking picture of a knife in a ranch bottle. is there some spiritual connection people have to this picture? is there some ominous and mystical reasoning that this has 32 thousand notes? do people reblog this because it makes them look like some indie blogger? or is there just something funny to this? someone please explain

This is it, lads. The post that started us on this path 9 years ago.

I sure hope no one told him.

Well, I'm going to start watching warrior nun.

Aka; develop a new unhealthy hyperfixation with a sapphic couple I love and get really excited only for the homophobic bitches who cancelled it to let me down, sending me into a state of depression for a while and not being able to focus on anything else but said sapphic couple until I find something else to be obsessed with.

Yay.

Y'all I just fucking realized- Kit is THE FIRST canonically queer Disney princess. The first. Ever. This is an OCCASION, people. Also, the fact that Kit and Jade are just outright queer- it's not just hinted at like the supposed representation in other Disney productions- that's amazing. It's so accepted, too. It's not addressed as an obstacle or anything, it's just an undeniable part of their characters. I haven't watched the documentary or anything yet on the making, but I read a little about how Ruby Cruz and Erin Kellyman reacted to that as two similarly queer actors playing queer characters, and it's just so amazing to FINALLY be given great representation from great people in a place you wouldn't expect it from. It is so important for queer kids today to be able to recognize themselves in the characters shown in media for a plethora of reasons, and this is a MAJOR step in the direction. Also, the fact that the two are both butch? I love that? It's glorious, I love them all.

I know that given past circumstances I really shouldn't get my hopes up about it being renewed, just given how many queer shows I've loved that have been cancelled, especially since it's Disney. (Same damn company that did it to the owl house), but I'm really hopeful that we'll be able to get more of this, and even if the worst happens, this isn't something they can take away from us. We have a Lesbian princess with short hair who dresses masc, and we have a lesbian knight who also dresses similarly. This is such a huge step in the way of inclusivity in such an amazing form of media. I am screeching with delight as I write this, and now my cat thinks I'm deranged, but it is so fucking worth it. (I will however break something if it doesn't get renewed, and possibly commit a crime or two).
