I like to think a lot of the "forbidden knowledge that will drive you mad" in Apocrypha is just like. Knowledge of, including all relevant cultural context, memes from our real life.

Like imagine you're some poor bosmer, doesn't know fuck about any shit that isn't trees, and you stumble across a black book and upon reading it you are suddenly aware of the fact that Andrew Tate was owned by an 18 y/o on Twitter so hard he doxxed himself and got arrested for human trafficking. And you couldn't even tell other people about it. Of course you'd go mad

An Altmer mage is plundering a Dwarven ruin with their companions, when they stumble across a mysterious book bound in a material so dark it seems to swallow light. As the oldest and most magically adept of the party, the Altmer offers to be the one to inspect it. He opens the book for a moment and scans the pages, then shuts it closed abruptly and forcefully. Mere moments have passed to his companions but they can see it in his face, he's just experienced an eternity.

He sets the mysterious book back on its podium and leaves the ruins and his companions behind without another word.

Many years pass and an old Nord adventurer decides to retire to her hometown of Solitude. One morning while walking the streets, she recognizes a familiar face through a window of the Bards College. How could she not? Time hasn't shown on his face the way it has hers, at least not in any way a human would see. As fast as her tired legs can take her she rushes into the school, and confronts her long lost companion.

"What happened? Why would you give up your life of adventure for this? Books and history and music theory?" She asks.

He doesn't look up from his composition as he responds "You wouldn't understand. You wouldn't get it. I have to do this. I have to. It's going to be so fucking funny." There is no humor in his voice.

Saddened to see what she'd feared for him most the day he walked away, that what he'd read had driven him mad, the old Nord leaves the elf who was once her friend to his studies.

Another generation of Nords comes and goes and the Altmer has surpassed all other students and faculty in the college. The current headmaster is old and sickly and all the faculty agree the elf would be a perfect replacement, if his obsession with the piece he's been fretting over since his admission wasn't so all consuming.

The Jarl of Solitude is to be crowned High King of Skyrim, and the court asks the College to have their best students and teachers to preform for the celebration. Among others, the Altmer is chosen as heading act. "Perfect!" He beams, "Just perfect! This is an excellent opportunity to show off my magnum opus!"

The coronation come and the ceremony goes off without a hitch, and the celebration at the Blue Palace is in full swing. A hush falls over the party as the mysterious Altmer takes the stage. He smiles to himself, for he knows this is the first and last time he'll ever preform this song, and with its completion, he'll be free from its madness. He begins to sing:

If you don't want to pursue an autism or adhd diagnosis and you have access to a doctor or therapist you can get them to write you a note attesting to a symptom of your neurodivergence (rather than naming the condition itself) and stating the need for accommodation. 

It's something my therapist told me about when we were still working in offices. I have sensory processing issues and on multiple occasions the noise in my office was so bad I broke the skin on my hand clenching my fist. 

This work-around of course won't fix structural ableism and relies on you having access to a doctor/therapist who actually gives a crap, so still might only help a couple of folks.
