Thinking about the orientation videos and the hat imagery in Villainous (I guess this is my base hyperfixation now) and it kind of occurs to me
And I'm not judging this based on the actual show's prop and bg design because they actually look fantastic
I'm judging this because his personality is near the same wavelength as Demencia but with more experience and self-control
yet half the braincells are spent on 'extra or else'
In the Boxmore orientation video his idea of a security system is SPIKES and FLAMETHROWERS and BUZZSAWS in every conceivable corner (something along those lines) he sounded like a gleeful kid help
In a test animatic for the characters he says one of Flug's very efficient designs is dogshit because 'it doesn't have a camera attached to it so you can watch the horrible death over and over again'
I guarantee you that Flug, flight machine enthusiast and engineering expert, did not come up with the design of the giant fucking Hat-shaped ship they soar around the sky in
Maybe he came to BH with a few drafts that look like horrifying war machines but still relatively plane-shaped and has the blatant hat logo on it
But BH shot them all down and went 'NO a puny logo isn't enough the WHOLE THING HAS TO BE A FUCKING HAT'
THIS BITCH IS NOT AERODYNAMIC
I get it's wacky cartoon logic nothing is subtle but it's funny to imagine Flug sobbing as he builds this monstrosity because his boss, on-brand with the god thing, isn't satisfied with making the very clouds in the sky hat-shaped it has to be a hat plane with the logo on it too just to be sure
I love how the series never fails to emphasize how Black Hat is an image-obsessed geezer who doesn't know SHIT about anything that doesn't involve torture or destruction.
His house is shaped like a hat, he has robots with "hat" in their name (and surprise! They wear hats too), his ship is shaped like a hat, and I bet this old bastard's room is themed entirely around hats, his bed sure is shaped like a ridiculous big fucking top hat
