Be The Inexplicable Phenomena You Wish To See In The World, or Beth for short. She/he pronouns. I like alot of things, so this blog is a bit of a grab bag. 99% of my posts are reblogs. Sometimes I tag things, but if you need something tagged, just ask!

well see it can do the work of the colon, the semicolon, or the parenthesis with more speed and less formality than any of these, plus you can use it to capture the stream-of-consciousness effect of a comma splice with much less loss of clarity. sort of an all-purpose punctuation for the casual yet elaborate written construct.

I believe in the em-dash because the em-dash believes in me

If you live in the US and you have a phone you need to keep secret for any reason, make sure that it is turned off at this time.

Yes, I'm doing this months in advance, and yes, my blog has very little reach, but I figure better to post about it more than less.

Please reblog and add better tags than mine, I'm bad at tags.

The threead continues:

All people have a tendency to be unconsciously biased toward seeing trans women as untrustworthy, unsafe, lacking vulnerability, the problem to be solved rather than a person to be taken care of. And this is not less true in trans and queer and feminist communities. It’s just more unconscious, and more propped up with social justice, feminism, queer lib, leftist, and anti-oppression beliefs. This book is talking about this in context to a physical public situation of harassment, but this is true of social conflicts too, including on social media, in friend groups, in all kinds of situations. The unconscious bias also gets taken advantage of by people who know what they’re doing and hide behind that bias to make their mistreatment of transfems seem reasonable—again, often supported with social justice and anti-oppression rhetoric. TERFs aren’t the only people who do this! It felt so incredible to see this spelled out in print, plain as day, an actual book calling out a real thing I’ve experience more times than I can count, that all transfems I know go through, and that I still feel crazy for seeing because there’s so much gaslighting about it. You know how when you KNOW something is real, but you feel defensive about that knowledge, like you have to be ready to hold onto it, and then you see something confirming that knowledge for you in no uncertain terms and it feels like “wow maybe I wasn’t crazy all this time!” That’s how I felt seeing this.

The book linked is free to read and download. See the link above.

So I ended up with free time at the end of my first class today, so I was like "do yall wanna see a vintage meme?" and turned on "what does the fox say". Expected like. A laugh from the kids, or even just a "wtf is this mx?" which is. A reasonable reaction to What Does The Fox Say.

But instead of a reasonable reaction. all of my students watched the first 60 seconds with jaws agape. And then this one kids turns to me like the fucking eye of Sauron and literally goes:

My husband told me I also should share the next part of this story, where I, feebly trying to defend my honor against a child, said, "No, this video was just big when I was in college!" and he scoffed, rolled his eyes, and absolutely obliterated me by saying, "So did you go to furry college?"

To everyone pointing out my icon: do I have a fursona? Yes. Does that make me a furry? Almost definitely. Do you admit that to a 12 year old who has just accused you of being a furry, in front of 23 other 12 year olds, with 25 instructional days left in the year? Absolutely THE FUCK not!!!

HEY AUNTY YOU WANNA TELL US SOMETHING

I just wanna remind everyone that there was a time in the Spider Man comics that Aunt May was gonna marry Doc Ock

and throw in that this would be a GREAT continuity to bring that back in.

Mx. Moz did fan art of that cover. Link to artist https://twitter.com/MLeeLunsford/status/1084990686892453888

I love the implication that every other spider was invited to the wedding and did nothing to stop it

Love the contrast between the Americans’ “Apollo” and the Soviets’ “Sputnik.” You got the Americans naming their rocket after a Greek god trying to communicate the grandness and importance of this rocket. And you got the Soviets naming their rocket “fellow traveler.” Like a friend you go on an  adventure with together. This rocket is our little friend lol

And they were gay for each other

And they were gay for each other.

We used to have an East Side Mario's in my hometown in Rhode Island! Back then, they did up the inside to look like what someone who's never been to NYC thinks the East Side looks like. Including the servers yelling "Taxi!" if they needed someone to come to the table with a parmesan cheese grater and pepper grinder while the entrees were brought out.

.... Did/do they do that in Canada, too?

... i have never heard of this in my life????

my ESM lore starts and stops at "order pasta but dont eat it that night, that's tomorrows meal bc they will give you unlimited salad soup and bread while you're there"

look if chiropractics have helped you then i think that's great but i do think every chiropractor should be legally required to disclose the fact that the guy who invented it said he learned it from a ghost

the chiropractor fandom did NOT like this post

"Short Post" on something that spawned in my brain this week while pondering ink tanks, and the concept that Inklings fill their weapons directly from their hand to the weapon handles.

Also based on that one sunken scroll that shows the Inkling's internal ink sac anatomy and a tube from the sac going to... their shoulder. (This is stupid and pointless and I've decided it either goes into the arm or the mouth or both and I think the arm makes sense)

The only weapon this really falls apart with are the dualies, which use both hands, but the dualies also have very small ink tanks so their requirements for ink might be met by just the natural increased ink flow on the skin (which I think would generally be stronger on the limbs).

Note that this could work totally well with both arms working like this; I just kept it to one arm only to mirror human handedness, the way Inklings seem to favor one hand in the game, the sunken scroll showing the ink sac tube primarily going to one side, and cephalopods really only having a siphon on one side (despite people often thinking they have two! They can move it; octopuses, specifically.)

Sources for this: - Specials, notably Splashdown and Booyah Bomb emitting ink from the palm of the hand as the main gimmick - NO tube between ink tank and weapons - like a 5-hour discord DM with @rassicas about how ink tanks make zero sense while i was also supposed to be paying attention at the mall - Like every ink-using creature in Splatoon EXCEPT INKLINGS fires ink from their mouth - Most weapons are held in the Inkling's right hand (shooters, largely) - Both Splashdown and Booyah Bomb use the right hand as well - my 1 brain cell - the sunken scroll showing the ink sac anatomy of the inkling pretending it goes to the arm instead of stopping at the shoulder

Also don't like and subscribe because i dont have youtube.
