Stony Fic Recs Masterpost 4

Yes, it is time for a new Masterpost.  Number 4, you thirsty people, you! Remember to check the Masterpost 1, Masterpost 2 and Masterpost 3 for more Stony recs.

Fics with Cheating and Infidelity (mostly Steve or Tony with someone else and cheating on that character)

@treesramblings@fundamental-blue and temp commissioned this art for my fic, “Down in Lonesome Town.”

I’M FUCKING DEAD. Is this what it feels like to have serotonin? *shakes fists* I am so emo right now, fuck fuck. Thank you all so much for all the love and support. I love you, I love you, I love you. I see the end of the universe, and I think of you <3 <3 <3

Summary:

“Why do I always find my way back to you?”
Maybe he didn’t necessarily return to Steve, but fate is a funny little thing, and after living a life of loss, Steve wants something that’s his to keep. Tony deserves a love that’s unrestrained; Steve thinks he’ll erupt with it.
Love is messy, not easy, and takes work. Maybe love feels like rage.
But maybe love could just be jumping off a rocky mountain and smiling anyway.
*
After the universe is restored, Steve is lost without any direction. Retiring from the Avengers, he moves across the country and ends up building a house by a misty blue lake. Across the bridge is Tony Stark’s new workshop.

A fic where Steve builds a lake house, cries, goes to Yosemite, makes friends, sees ghosts, goes to Vormir, gets a tattoo, eats Mexican food, and learns to finally use his words (not necessarily in that order).

Fearless was one of my least faves on the album but live?? She's fucking glorious, damn! The babe I want but could never have, the sexiest one in the room-- she jumped onstage and stole the show

Hoodie-guy stops in front of Steve just as he snaps, “FINE, I want to bang Tony Stark like a screen door in a hurricane, could we drop it now?”
“UM,” Sam says, loud enough that they both turn to look at him. He’s wide-eyed as he jerks his head meaningfully, gestures getting looser and more pointed as they continue not to get it.
Steve stares at him. This is why Sam is never picked for a partner when they all play Charades.
There’s a tap on his shoulder, and Steve turns to see Hoodie-guy smiling. Steve opens his mouth to say do you need something when he realizes why the man’s face is so familiar.
“Hi,” says Tony Stark.
Steve blurts the first thing he thinks. “Fuck.”
“You don’t understand.”
“Then explain it to me.” Because Steve didn’t get it. He’d finally gotten up the courage, after years of watching and waiting and questioning and second-guessing, to ask Tony on a date, and instead of a definitive response, instead of a ‘yes’ or an ‘I’m sorry, I don’t feel that way’, Tony had said, you can’t seriously want that.
tony loses his memory. steve’s afraid to get too close, because he can’t take seeing tony without love in his eyes. steve also seems to be the only thing that helps him remember anything, so. heartbreak all around, until tony’s memory comes back.
for the lovely sabrecmc! i love your blog and you’re the best!!!!!! :DDD
It was a pretty well-known fact that Tony Stark had control issues.
It was far less well-known why, though.
Sometimes Tony does things that Steve doesn’t really understand. Turns out, there’s a reason for that. But it’s not really one that Steve is all too aware of, what with him being from the forties and all. Back then, they would’ve called it laziness.
Now, apparently, it’s ADHD.
Steve’s still got a lot to learn about the future. And his boyfriend. But never say Captain America isn’t up for the challenge.
“Oh, I won’t bother you.” The tone of Steve’s voice implies that he definitely will be bothering Tony, aggressively and frequently. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll keep to my farm, you keep to yours. Solitude together.”
Tony opens his mouth to argue that that’s not how this works, but he snaps it shut at the realization that Steven Grant Rogers is fucking with him. That twinkle in his eye has accelerated into a full-on glimmer, and the ends of his lips are twitching. Jesus, he hates this man. Or maybe he wishes he did. Tony can’t really tell the difference anymore

I kinda combined the following two prompts from an anon and @ishipallthings into one fic. I hope you guys don’t mind!

Sorry it’s taking me a century to go through all the prompts in my inbox. 😔

I hope you enjoy the fic! 🤍

too close for comfort

steve/tony, fluff, getting together, 2532 words

It was born out of a genuine desire to help, but as with many things in his life, Tony soon finds that the situation is rapidly spiraling out of his control.

It all started because Steve had looked so goddamn sad all the time. The guy seemed to have the tendency to turn every single negative emotion inwards and Tony just couldn’t stand seeing him wound up so tight anymore, like if someone were to poke him in the wrong way he would just snap one day.

So maybe when Steve was seated at the dining table one day, shoulders hunched in on himself and a grim expression on his face, Tony’s resolve to just leave the man alone finally broke and he asked, between sips of his fifth cup of coffee of the day:

“Cap?”

Blue eyes turned his way, ever wary and apprehensive.

“Don’t take this the wrong way, but—” Tony set his MIT mug down on the counter and took a fortifying breath. “Do you want a hug?”

Sam/Bucky Masterlist (2)

a couple rebel top gun pilots (flying with nowhere to be) (ao3) - notcaycepollard Rating: Explicit

Summary: That seems to be the thing that breaks the ice between them; Bucky’s never really hung out with Sam before, past being jammed into a too-small car for six hours and then two uncomfortable months in a safehouse trying not to get on each other’s last nerve. Now they’re getting lunch or coffee every few days. Sam falls asleep on Bucky’s couch three more times. Bucky joins him and Steve a couple of times on their morning run.

He doesn’t notice, is the thing; doesn’t notice how ever since Sam slept on his couch that night he’s been letting Bucky closer bit by bit, that as Bucky’s been wondering about the boundaries and structures of friendship, Sam’s been drawing in.

Cookies at Breakfast (ao3) - Tanouska, Hrafnsvaengr Rating: Teen And Up

Summary: Sam grabs a gun from under the small table on his way, clears each room methodically before returning to the kitchen.

So he isn’t dreaming, there they are sitting on the counter.

Cookies.

He puts the gun down, removes the toothbrush from his mouth, and crosses his arms.

Empty (ao3) - rc1788 Rating: Teen And Up

Summary: Sam is pissed off because Bucky has been eating all the food in the fridge at the Avengers compound. But Sam’s even more pissed that Bucky’s been quiet lately.

AKA Sam and Bucky ignore their feelings and fuck in the back of a car in the Denny’s parking lot.

Glow (ao3) - glittercake Rating: Explicit

Summary: Sam showers Bucky with compliments and ridiculous nicknames. It’s not Bucky’s fault that he starts falling for the guy.

Heroes (ao3) - Overlithe Rating: Explicit

Summary: It’s their first day off in a month and after an exhausting mission all Sam wanted to do was to stay home instead of being dragged by Bucky on a tour of DC’s touristic highlights. But a superhero’s work is never done, especially not when there’s explosions, problems you can’t punch, and a screening of the Greatest Film of All Time.

A slice-of-costumed-hero-life story about loss and hope, the past and the future, and killer bird gifs. (Set a few years after TWS & CA:CW and featuring BuckyCap and FalCap. Also, they make out while in costume, which I feel is the most important part of this summary.)

Kestrel in Distress (ao3) - bioloyg Rating: Explicit

Summary: There’s a price to pay for being friends with the former Winter Soldier, but Steve was unavailable for comment so Sam’s ass is the one that ends up being kidnapped. And if that’s not bad enough, these guys expect Sam to roll over and give Bucky, and all his secrets, up without a fight. Sam may hate the way Bucky sticks his spoon in the sugar after it’s been in his coffee, but he’s not about to throw a fellow vet under the bus. Not for his own life or anyone else’s.

~ “Sam lets a sharp breath out of his nose and squeezes his eyes shut until phosphenes explode behind his eyelids. He needs to keep a positive attitude. The moment he shows weakness to anyone, even himself, is the moment this all goes downhill. As if it isn’t downhill already, Sam grumbles internally.”

Luminous Beings We (ao3) - dancingloki Rating: General

Summary: In which Bucky Barnes eats cake, pines over Sam Wilson, and has one good god damned day without anybody trying to kill him

Mine or Yours (ao3) - LeMera (Agha) Rating: Explicit

Summary: The morning after, Steve pretended like nothing happened, which felt like a punch in the gut. They were off to find Bucky. That was all Steve would talk about. Bucky, Bucky, Bucky. Sam was going to fucking kill Bucky when they found him, if the guy didn’t kill them first.

Just to be clear, this is not OT3.

my love won’t do you no harm (ao3) - soniclipstick (veriscence) Rating: Explicit

Summary: Sam is vulnerable. Yes, Sam is a veteran, an Avenger and at the very least forty levels of badass, but he’s also just human. And Bucky won’t be the kind of man who hurts his fella. So most days they have dinner together, make love and cuddle, and then Bucky goes to sleep in his own room, the one with every kind of security measure that Nat, Bucky and Tony could think up.

It works, until it doesn’t.

(Or: how Bucky realises that Sam needs him just as much as he needs Sam.)

Our Dirty Little Secret (ao3) - roane Rating: Explicit

Summary: Sam didn’t plan to start a secret, torrid affair with the former Winter Soldier. It just sort of happened. Now he’s not sure what’s more likely to kill him: sex with Bucky Barnes, or Steve, when he finds out what Sam’s been up to.

six months in winter (ao3) - CapnShellhead Rating: Mature

Summary: In an attempt to break Bucky out of a Russian prison and bring him home, Sam gets tossed in alongside him.

so brand new (ao3) - helahler Rating: Explicit

Summary: “Two weeks,” Sam murmurs, breath hitching as Bucky pulls back to mouth at the sensitive spot on his jaw, “is too damn long.”

“I think I can make it worth the wait,” Bucky shoots back.

Spin Cycle™ (ao3) - bioloyg Rating: Explicit

Summary: Bucky has never been afraid to speak his mind. However, there is such a thing as “a time and a place,” and he definitely doesn’t have either of those things on his side when he breaks up an engagement. Sam’s engagement to be specific. Cue the food fights, and love confessions.

~ Sam peels the noodle off his shirt and tosses it to the side with disdain, frowning. “Well this is ruined.”

take you down (ao3) - ABitNotGoodieBag Rating: Explicit

Summary: Bucky is a distracting menace and Sam’s gonna let him know what’s what.

Then There’s Rain Showers (ao3) - AmarieMelody Rating: Explicit

Summary: In which Sam and Bucky are married and have a certain code language.

They’re Good Drones, Brent (ao3) - chase_acow Rating: Teen And Up

Summary: When Redwing becomes infected with an alien A.I., Sam has to balance the needs of the team with his own curiosity about his new partner. Redwing isn’t the only one acting strange, he also needs to get to the bottom of Bucky’s weirdness. It takes a training exercise gone wrong that Redwing and Sam might not survive for their secrets to be exposed.

This Life is Hard, but Sweetheart We’re Gonna Make it (ao3) - misspronounced Rating: Explicit

Summary: In which Bucky fights in a war with Sam. They fall for one another and help each other through some tragic events that happen. A love conquers all sort of story.

Underneath the Christmas Tree (ao3) - FrozenWolf Rating: Explicit

Summary: What starts as a bet over who can decorate the best Christmas tree ends in so much more as Sam and Bucky realize their feelings for each other.

we’re awesome, totally genius (ao3) - napricot Rating: Teen And Up

Summary: At this point, Sam’s scanning the coffeeshop for an exit strategy from this terrible date; maybe he can trip a customer into spilling coffee on one of them, or pretend like he’s seen a friend, something, anything. His eye lands on the white guy sitting at the table behind Mike, directly in Sam’s line of sight, but not visible to Mike himself. And okay, hello, stranger. He’s gorgeous, and he’s looking up from the stack of papers on his table, right at Sam. Hot Stranger’s thick-lashed blue eyes are wide, and a pen is dangling from his fingers as if the nonsense happening at Sam’s table has shocked him into interrupting his work.

What the fuck, mouths Hot Stranger.

Sam’s on a first date that starts weird and only gets weirder. Thankfully, there’s a hot bystander who’s ready to be a hero and save Sam from the horrors of app-based dating.

Your Eyes Are my Sunrise (ao3) - patchwork_daydreams (orphan_account) Rating: General

Summary: “Can you pass me the last slice?” Bucky says, motioning to the box next to Sam.

He’s not sure what makes him do it – maybe some last ditch attempt to break this weirdness between them – but Sam picks up the remaining slice of pizza and stuffs the whole thing into his mouth.

“What last slice?” he asks thickly, through his mouthful of pizza crust.

A smile breaks onto Bucky’s face, and Sam thinks thank god. He holds his gaze, just a little too long, and is surprised when Bucky responds by glancing very deliberately down, running his eyes down Sam’s body. Holy fuck, what is this?

“Dick,” Bucky mutters after a moment, his eyes flicking back up to Sam’s face, and quirking an eyebrow.

“Stay like this. Stay mine. Stay with me.” Steve swallows. “Please never get tired of me.”

Open for better quality!

VEVY I AM GOING TO CRY. WHAT THE HELL. WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL. THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL I AM GOING TO CRY.

under the silvery moon

An Anon asked for some dancing stevetony! I hope you like it, Anon! 🤍

under the silvery moon

steve/tony, fluff, established relationship, 1912 words

“Captain, you have truly outdone yourself.”

Steve feels his own lips break into an answering grin at the familiar voice.

Tony pads across the wide stretch of distance between the entrance to the rooftop and where Steve is seated on a picnic blanket, spread on top of the grass Tony had had installed to replace the linoleum flooring—something he did to cater to Steve’s love of gardening. The previously sleek, minimalistic, and barren rooftop has been converted into a flourishing garden filled with various plants and flowers of different colors, shapes, and sizes courtesy of Steve’s green thumb.

Right now, the garden has fairy lights strung all over it. They are hung on the branches of various plants, looping around bushes and flowers, giving off a magical yellow glow that is reminiscent of fireflies.

On the picnic blanket, Steve has prepared multiple layers of fluffy blankets for them to snuggle under, as well as several cushions and pillows. A bottle of wine is sitting in a bucket of ice and a bag filled with takeout from their favorite Italian restaurant is sitting right next to it.

He watches Tony approach him, unabashedly indulging in the sight of him. Tony’s steps are easy and unhurried. Still dressed in a crisp white shirt and black pants, suit jacket slung over his shoulder and red tie loosened haphazardly, he gazes at Steve with a warm smile and a pair of tired eyes—remnants of a long work day.

Steve’s heart clenches at how much Tony looks like home—Steve’s home. There is nothing he wants more in the world than an armful of Tony right now—his weary eyes, his messy hair, the scrape of his goatee against Steve’s skin. Steve wants all of it.
