"You can't be a lurker on tumblr." Yes, you absolutely can. I've been quietly reblogging things since 2014 and I haven't interacted with anyone in years.

sometimes I see people be like guys it turns out that (author of a manga that is just relentlessly creepy) is a creep im so sad like you couldn't have seen this coming?

My take on the whole Titanic sub thing is this:

I don't want anyone to get mauled to death by a bear. I think it'd be awful if that happened. I think it'd be awful even if I didn't particularly like the people involved, or the type of people they are.

But if a bunch of people paid $250k to go on a Bear Tour where a tour guide takes you to visit a mother bear's den to go stick your face in there and see mama bear and all her cubs, and they all got mauled to death, well...it's still awful and I still don't want them to get mauled, but I'm gonna make fun of their stupid asses.

Im so tired of this stupid discussion you’re not poor for earning 250k a year. Just because you can’t own a private jet doesn’t mean you’re poor

Finding out the 19 year old who died in the submersible did not want to go and was absolutely terrified of water/the idea of the submersible but only went because his dad basically forced him to go for father's day has me absolutely sick

Listen my basic human empathy does feel genuine horror for those people who most likely died in that submarine.

But my working logical brain is also scoffing at anyone stupid enough to spend 250k to get into a heavy metal coffin, sinking to see the ocean floor graveyard that is the titanic.

Like just watch the movie, man. Spend 250k to go to Venice or some shit.

Why the titanic? We all know what it looks like. We all saw the movie.

"People don't deserve to die in such horrifying ways" and "You voluntarily got into a jerry rigged unregulated submersible to go to an incredible hostile place you shouldn't be going to anyway what were you expecting" are statements that can coexist

Idk I just think that “I have empathy for the friends and family of those that were lost” and “based on everything we’ve learned, going down in that death-trap was an incredibly stupid decision and anyone could see that” and “it is ridiculous anyone would pay 250k to go see a mass grave, the wealth gap has gotten out of hand so I can’t find it in myself to shed tears for the men involved” and “it is heartbreaking a teenage boy was lost because he wanted to impress his father” are statements that can coexist.

Human emotions are grey.
