Cutest Necromancer Around

@death-witch-envy / death-witch-envy.tumblr.com

♡www.deathwitchenvy.com ♡ Yunan. She/her. Death witchcraft, necromancy, ancient Pagan magic and folk magic. Always learning from Hades, Thoth, and the dead. I will announce when asks are open/closed.

Btw, if you have not had tragedy dropped on you before, grief does fuck you up in unexpected and physical ways. If you can’t sleep or sleep more than expected or have more or reduced appetite, or energy goes weird— your brain just had a bunch of emotions dropped on it and sometimes it reacts by hitting every button in your brain. It will pass. Just try to not get too frustrated with yourself.

It’s also fine if you feel normal. Grief literally hits everybody differently, and some people are made to be able to to keep the farm going the day after a death, and some of us turn into sleepless gargoyles and get really into trying to help, and some of us are just unspeakably sad. Grief is weird. Be kind to yourself.

Some of my recent photos over on my Instagram.

I’ve unfortunately had to start adding a watermark due to many impersonation accounts using my photos to scam people. Please beware of this! My only account is @ofthecunningflame on tumblr and Instagram.

Hey friends! I need to replace the brakes on my car for DoorDash - so I’m putting out an offer for 40% off anything that is pre-made (finished) or ready-to-ship (vintage, misc) if you check out using Venmo/CashApp or cash in person. Currently Etsy’s fees pretty much amount to me paying for shipping out of pocket now, so it isn’t honestly worth it to run sales on there anymore. **Excludes crystals!

If you are interested in anything, send me a DM with a picture of what you want and I’ll give you the discounted price! No holds unless you are prepared to pay within a reasonable timeline or can pay half up front please. Too many people never follow through! My Etsy link can be found on the sidebar of my website, shown at the top of my page!

(For anyone waiting on customs through Etsy or otherwise, I am still working on them and not advertising custom work unless we already spoke about something in the past. I only have 1 day’s worth of hours a week to work on orders right now)

This is a very specific vague.

AHEM speaking as a grad student from the University of Wisconsin, NONE OF THE PEOPLE THERE BELIEVE IT EITHER, PLEASE DO NOT BLAME BARRY FUCKING POWELL ON US.

also he isn’t even at the uw anymore, he retired early to write really bad poetry and live in a yurt, and I swear to god I wish I were making this up

I love discovering very specific drama

There aren't a lot of easily accessible resources out there for death witchcraft, and many of the things you can find are contradictory. I've been practicing witchcraft for 14 years and only in the past 3-4 years or so have I really had luck with finding any resources for the death path and been able to pick through and decide what pertains to my personal practice and what doesn't.

Anyway, I just finished reading volume 1 of Death Witchcraft by Yunan Kirkbride aka @death-witch-envy (at exactly 3:33am! Wild!) I'm planning on sleeping before I read volume 2, but volume 1 was really insightful and helped me confirm that a lot of what I've been doing intuitively has been accurate and helpful for my path, so I'm looking forward to the second volume!

I think it's a great zine for beginners and really affirming for people like me who previously did not have access to a community of witches and resources. I don't 100% agree with everything, but I like that Yunan makes it clear these are opinions and rituals based on her personal practice and not stone cold facts like a lot of other resources I've found have done. Every practice is unique and personal to each individual witch after all.

Thank you! I so appreciate your feedback! And please disagree with my views. Death, ancestors, and spirit work are vary by culture and personal experience, so I would hate for people to agree with everyone one author says.

"But other people won't recognize me as a witch."

And?

I have been unrecognized as a witch by other people for a long time and that premise continues to this day. I don't practice their witchcraft, and I understand that I do not qualify under their parameters. But I don't fucking practice their witchcraft, so I don't give a hoot what their measuring tapes are.

Community is definitely important, but are you sure you want your community to be of people who refuse to recognize you unless you play by their rules? Is that truly the community that will validate you? That will fulfill your needs for connection?

I say this as a secular witch because I hear so often from other secular witches the pressure to conform to religious witch expectations and stereotypes.

I promise you will find community with people who are not demanding you confirm to their expectations, but you do have to look for them.
