Insane to me that the UK government is slowly trying to legislate trans people out of existence and I have not seen a single person talk about it

Single sex toilets are now legally required in all new buildings, the cass review may lead to a complete shutdown of all trans healthcare, single sex wards are being introduced to HOSPITALS and claims that trans people will be treated in private rooms is almost laughable given the current bed shortages, ensuring that trans people will be forced to wait even longer for life-saving procedures. Trans teenagers are being murdered and the government does not care. We are slowly being driven out of all public spaces and all healthcare.

People are definitely talking about it, but with so much other shit going on it's sort of just become part of the noise.

Anyway. As trans people we have a few options. Firstly: give up and despair, which is sometimes very tempting but you need to kick that one in the face and tell it to fuck off.

Secondly: ensure our voices are heard and protests registered by being loud and annoying in public spaces. This one sometimes works, but frankly, we're already the nation's current political football and people are disinclined to listen to us. So do this, but don't expect it to work magic, is what I'm saying.

Thirdly, and in my opinion, most importantly: ORGANISE. Find other trans people in your community. Find your queer and non-queer allies. Get together, have a moan about things, then work out what you're going to do about it. Seriously! Fuck the state, fuck waiting for anyone else to help us, we have to help ourselves and we have to start now before things get even worse.

I can't tell you the best ways you, personally, can help: I'm currently unemployed and my own options are remarkably limited, but I'm in touch with my local queer community and have an eye on any direct action I can provide. If I had the funds, I'd begin stockpiling HRT, not just for myself but also for other trans people who might not be so fortunate as to have access to a clinic. Write, paint, make noise, hide or be visible depending on which best suits the current circumstances.

We ain't going anywhere, so what are we going to do to make people see that?

Forgot to post about it on the day itself, but I recently finished my first year on feminising HRT.

And kids/guys/gals/folk, it sure does do miracles. I look at myself in the mirror and I see a completely different person. It's not just the breast growth and fat redistribution giving me curves, but things like my hair genuinely growing back, longer and wavier. My eyes look bigger!

It's not a "costume", as I was told in rebuke recently. My chromosomes may still be XY (who the fuck knows, I never got it checked), and I'm obviously never going to spontaneously grow a uterus, but otherwise inside and out, I am a woman. So much for sex mattering.

Here's hoping to many happy years ahead of me.

«I don’t like Toshiro because he left Izutsumi for dead!» would you have liked him better if he got Maizuru to drag her back kicking and screaming? She didn’t want to be found. He let her escape

Toshiro's fine. Maizuru is an abusive bitch and genuinely the only character in the story I actively dislike.

Just caught the bear race, can't believe they had to do a photo finish after Mind Ripper, Fluffy Wuffins, and Crimson Stained broke out into a fight at the finish line

I'm still bummed they took Bodice Ripper out of the running. Sure I know it's bad form to bite the hand off an announcer but it was his own fault for trying to pet it.

This is one of those instances where I can't tell if you're talking about the large carnivores or the large gay men, nor which outcome would be funnier.

When I made this post just ten days ago, it was about mass graves discovered at Al Shifa hospital and now we have learned that the same had happened at Nasser hospital in Gaza. The same genocidal pattern: a hospital is put under siege, patients and medical staff are abducted, tortured and buried in mass graves.

But to build on the last point I wanted to bring attention to in the previous post, it is very crucial to also keep in mind is that the Palestinian Civil Defence have reported that Israel had deliberately concealed the identities of those it killed and buried in these mass graves. Close to 400 bodies have been buried in these mass graves, 58% of the recovered bodies have not been identified.

In a press conference, a spokesperson of the civil defence in Gaza said that Israel had intentionally disfigured the bodies postmortem in order to remove any identifying markers such as birthmarks. He also mentioned that they suspect that the bodies have been placed in body bags that expedited the decomposition process, destroying any possibility of them being identified.

One of the main and only ways families have been able to identify the bodies of their loved ones is through the clothes they remember them wearing the last time they saw them. I saw a video of a mother identifying her son by his striped jacket. You can see the grief mixed with relief that she will be able to give her son proper burial.

Remember when months ago I said that to be identified and buried in Gaza has become a luxury? This is very much still the case.

He’s so right actually

It’s so funny that no one offered her an apology and she decided to just say this

Okay, like, hot take here, Radcliffe doesn't owe her anything (nor do any of the other actors). Actors are workers. They were all hired to do a job after a selection process. They put in the work, they got paid. That's basically where the relationship ends.

It's particularly weird to claim that an actor - who was a child at the time filming began, remember - "owes" something to the writer of the books the films were based on (y'know, the person who is not the director or producer). In most cases, actors wouldn't even meet the authors of whatever media is being adapted.

Rowling isn't Radcliffe's mother, or aunt, or cousin - she was, for a time, a work colleague and possibly some degree of friend. But they haven't worked together in over a decade and clearly there's no lasting friendship between them!

I feel like if we changed the names and said that, say, Macaulay Culkin owed a debt of gratitude to John Hughes (I had to look that up) for writing the Home Alone movies, it would be rightly seen as ridiculous.

Ma'am, you offered me soup and gave me ice cream. This is Not a hot take.

Entirely fair, I don't think I've ever actually said "hot take" in sincerity, I normally mean "completely obvious drivel I still feel compelled to point out", apologies.

Yes, the aces are zeros. Deal with it.

I'm nearly done with the first draft-- I just have to figure out what the face cards should be for the swords

I think I should write a guidebook to go along with it.

I know nothing about tarot, so it'll just be giving the names of the symbols, giving explanations of what the symbols literally mean, and giving examples of symbolism-rich objects/substances they could apply to

I would buy this deck.

I have never before been interested in buying a Tarot deck, but this - this I would cherish.

Scratch the surface of body shaming in any context, and you'll find a community facing political, social and often medical marginalisation that you don't have the education to recognise.

Even if your intended target is powerful, they aren't the person that actually internalises your hateful message. This is true even when there is no hate in your heart, when you are filled with humour or righteous indignation. It is still hateful.

When what passes your lips is an insult derived from the physical reality of the human body, you are contributing to the culture of marginalisation and are a personal detriment to the wellbeing of marginalised people.

Yes, this stays true if they are men. Body shaming is never ok.

This morning Dr Glass decided to offer me the opportunity to enjoy some psychic damage and harm. “Are you ready for something that will hurt you a lot?” He asked, linking me to an article in The Telegraph, a right-wing UK newspaper, advertising some content published by an even-more-right-wing think tank.

The Telegraph headline is trying to make it sound like a proper research “report” but it’s just an ad for this guy’s book.

While it’s interesting to remember & reflect on the fact that the transatlantic slave trade enriched individuals, while the majority of British citizens were forced to pay for the military that enforced the colonial violence that protected that wealth, it isn’t exactly a “gotcha” that somehow undoes the logic of reparation. The intended audience just skims headlines and then gets mad, so the rest of the writing is really just a prop to justify the headline.

However, as Dr Glass knew it would, the sheep farming thing took me out at the knees.

Wandering about with a blank stare wondering if British sheep farming - sheep farming! Shaped the ecosystem of a nation! Sheep! Roman Britain! Chalk downland ecosystems! Queen Elizabeth’s mint sauce! The Highland Clearances! Textiles! Industrial Revolution what! help!!! - is something the guy, like. hasn’t heard about. like he just somehow coasted his way into a paid job doing british economic history never hearing about sheep farming, so it can sort of be waved away. “Why get so upset about slavery when it was only as impactful in British economic history as sheep farming, which we NEVER hear about” is such a deranged take that I hang myself up on it like a cartoon character stuck on a tree while falling off a cliff.

. Like I get that this is disingenuous but that deranged little broken part of me, as Dr Glass predicted, is practically frantic wondering if the guy somehow just had Sheep Blindness Syndrome, like he mentally overwrites all instances of encountered sheep as, like, mushrooms or something. I keep explaining to my mind that he is just using cheap&nasty rhetoric with no intention of standing up to scrutiny, but I am also the innocent and passionate child grabbing myself by the collar going ELODIE HOW DID HE MISS THE SHEEP? IS HE OKAY?

Anyway, spreading out the damage amongst you all instead so I can focus on my day .

I bet this man would be horrified at the notion of himself as an Oblivious Metropolitan Elite but that is someone who clearly has never been outside a city in his life.

Dude just go out of London in literally any direction. THE SHEEP. THEY ARE STILL THERE. THEY ARE HARD TO MISS.
