Why don't you make comics for the news stands anymore, anyway? Seems like single issue stories for Spider-Man, X-men, Avengers, or Star Wars would do pretty well in a supermarket checkout aisle regardless of what the direct market thought of them.

Because nobody with any sense is trying to get onto the newsstand market, as it’s dying hand over fist. Mainstream magazines and newspapers are failing and deteriorating at an ungodly rate. It’s a terrible business, with a terrible business model, and it’s not where new readers are going to be coming from. It’s really only nostalgia for the past that makes people long for a return to those days–but those days are irrevocably gone. So embrace the new, the future!
