Now THIS is art. 😍

“When I first saw the original painting, I began to do some research on that little boy. I could find everything I wanted about every other detail in the painting, but there was nothing about him. No history. And so I wanted to find a way to imagine a life for this young man that the historical painting had never made space for in the composition: his desires, dreams, family, thoughts, hopes. Those things were never subjects that the original artist wanted the viewer to contemplate. In order to reframe the discussion, I decided to physically take action to quiet [and crumple] the side of the painting that we’ve been talking about for a very long time and turn up the volume on this kid’s story. And that’s the reason why I started that painting.” Via Artnet News 2019/03/27

fuck it. shout out to "high functioning" neurodivergents

the ones who can mask easily, the ones who can get social cues, the ones who have managed to go most of their life not even knowing they were ND because they didn't present as the stereotypical ND person.

the ones who can pay attention in class, understand social etiquette, who understand societial expectations

the ones who don't feel neurodivergent enough bc they don't struggle in the same ways/areas a lot of NDs do, or they can't relate to other NDs' experiences because they always understood these things easily

the ones with high empathy, the ones who DO get the joke, the ones who are constantly told that they can't possibly be neurodivergent because they don't act like what you'd expect a neurodivergent person to act like.

you are neurodivergent enough. you are valid, and so are your experiences. not struggling as much as others do in some places doesn't mean you dont struggle at all. your condition and diagnosis is valid. your symptoms are valid. YOU ARE VALID. not checking all the supposed boxes doesn't mean you aren't neurodivergent. you are enough. you are valid. you are loved. you are valued. you matter. you belong in neurodivergent spaces, you deserve to use whatever resources are available to you, you are allowed to take up space in these communities. and i am so, so proud of you.

feel free to, and actually, i encourage you to reblog this with your experiences. we belong in this community as much as anyone else. please also tag this w/ any neurodivergent conditions i may have forgotten 💙

people talk about the pitfalls of autism like "oh meltdowns" "gee sensory issues" or even "its destroying interpersonal relationships" but those are all bullshit. the true evil of autism is that my internal dialogue sounds disturbingly like one Jonathan Sims from the Magnus Archives, a podcast distributed by rusty qui-

Can we have a little chat about punk? I'd like to have a little chat about punk.

First and foremost - Punk is not emo. Punk is not metal. Punk is not grunge. Yes, they can overlap. Yes, they often do overlap. But don't call a punker an emo. That's showing you don't care about the subcultures, nor about the person. Especially when they've told you they're not emo.

Punk, simply, is a way of life. There's music involved, but it's not just music. If punk, true punk, had a motto, it'd be "Do no harm, take no shit, but most of all be kind." We're not here to throw fists without just cause. A punk isn't some dickhead kid just throwing their weight around.

Before I go further, I'd like to mention I haven't been around too long. I was born into the scene and grew up with it, but I've very firmly grown up in an era where punk isn't very prevalent and people don't know what it means anymore.

Taylor Swift is not punk. She has never been punk, and she never will be punk. Nothing she has ever done can or should be considered punk.

It's not punk to date bigots. It's not punk to destroy the earth.

Punk is about fighting the system, yes. But it's also about helping people. It's trying to be the best you can be for yourself and others, and for the planet.

The way I see things, it's disrespectful to the rich history of the scene to throw around the word punk like it has been recently. Billionaires did not make us. Billionaires have no place here. There's dozens of fantastic books written by people at the forefront of the scene. Go pick one up, read through them. I, Shithead is a great place to start.

the autistic urge to perfectly categorise every single aspect of my identity is back and im now researching ocd at midnight and wondering if im faking it to be quirky tm or if this is a real and valid thing i might be experiencing (from what ive looked at so far it's likely that i have it but i feel like it just looks as if im diagnosis shopping from the outside, especially because ive already self dxxed with autism and adhd albeit with quite literally months of research so i know theyre valid diagnoses but imposter syndrome and hhhhhhh) that being said, if y'all have any resources and good research things//articles etc PLEASEEE reblog with em or link in the comments tyty

Bit more of an official post! My mom needs meds and recently lost her insurance! Need to see the doctor to get refills authorized and that’s a big $106 out of pocket we just can’t afford, so I’m pulling out the lemonade stand tactics on this one boys.

SQUEAK MEGA ART DUMP

squeak is a little cat i used to draw weekly on twitter! she loves chaos and arson, has the ability to travel between dimensions (mostly so i can just draw her with whatever characters i want), and is very smelly

no offence but that looks like zoey

And while I'm choosing violence today: you need to start building community with people you don't like. Obviously I don't mean with fascists or people who want you or others harmed or dead. But we gotta start understanding that we don't have to be friends to be part of the same community.

Our answer to conflict has to stop fucking being exile. Our answer to conflict has to stop fucking being fractionating. We've have to stick together, and that includes the off-putting weirdos.

Because you know who's weird and off-putting and messy? Almost every single traumatized queer I've ever met, at one point or another. We have got to start looking past the small shit, because if we can't we're all gonna fucking die alone. We're all gonna have a bad take at some point, or a bad day, or spiral over something stupid. And we have got to start being able to look past that.

You don't have to be friends with them, but we have to stop cutting people out of social systems because they were a bit off.
