  • you are sad, cavernously sad. your friend calls. you are happy. you recall she hung up first. you are sad, cavernously sad. 
  • you are chock full of evil and the only way to get it out is with a sharp object. evil runs down your thighs or arms or face and you feel cleaner than any shower could make you.
  • you stare at someone you love. when they turn, you realize that their heart belonged to someone else all along. your anger is arson and you are engulfed in flames. 
  • “i love you,” someone says, and your ears turn it into, “i hate you” before the words get to your brain 
  • you died five years ago, and nobody noticed. to them you are still alive. they never checked for a pulse. 
  • miles away, your body takes notes for an assignment you have later. but you are somewhere else; somewhere with overcast clouds, where you can only watch yourself. 
  • you look in the mirror and your reflection isn’t you. every time you stare at the glass, the reflection is someone else. it is still never you. 
  • you are numb, but only when it’s raining. when the sun is out you are fury fury fury and you feel everything and you feel it too much
  • you see someone you like. then, you become them. in fact, you were never anyone else.
