life, is like a homestuck flash. beautiful. unpredictable. fast. tragic. karkat is there.
the speed and efficiency with which homestuck fumbled the bag on its rise to fame is truly impressive to me. like. i have so rarely ever seen so many people bail out of one fandom with such efficiency in my life. like rats fleeing a sinking ship. and now the shipwreck. idk theres a beautiful coral reef growing on it and some fish show up every now and then. revitalizing the local ecosystem.
non-spoilers elaboration please
essentially the ending itself was very anticlimactic, leaving several major plot points unaddressed and a lot of promising character writing left completely dead in its tracks. after that there were sporadic post-canon additions through fucking snapchat of all places which helped a bit but were just a weird way to continue the series and kind of lackluster. after that, there were two epilogues written for homestuck in prose by authors other than andrew hussie and they were, to say the least, extremely divisive. a ton of goodwill was lost after these three events when the majority of the fanbased realized there was a massive chasm between the parts of the story they liked and wanted to see more of vs what the author(s) wanted to provide
