I rewatched Sky High, because reasons. Then I felt compelled to dig out the shooting script and re-read it and holy shit I totally forgot how much a) the original draft kinda sorta ‘ships Layla and Warren a lot more than the final movie does and b) the whole bit with Magenta and Zach being all disaffected youth at the dance about how sickeningly sweet everything is and then deciding to dance originally was Magenta and Warren at the end of the movie, not Zach before the Strongholds arrive and mayhem ensues. No mention of the freeze girl at all.

Also the original script has ‘Bob’ Stronghold being way more of a jerk, and doesn’t include Mr Boy’s secret crush on Josie, but it DOES include Josie’s maiden name (DeMarco), Mr Boy’s real name (Jonathan Griswald) and a hint of his powers (he wanted the superhero name Quicksilver, implying something speed-related), Lash and Speed’s names (Connor Andrews and Sanford Anapolsky), and spells ‘Baron’ correctly, and Sue’s last name as ‘Tenney’.

Also, despite the movie’s website labelling Warren a freshman, there’s no indication at all that he’s an incoming freshman, so my headcanon that he’s actually a sophomore during the first movie remains intact.

Oh, and the sequel was going to be called Save U and follow the kids to university.

Lastly, I capped all the shots of pages from the 1978 yearbook and Steven Strait’s pics as Baron Battle never stop being hilarious to me.
