I'm a whole new person

i hate how so much of this site has twisted self care around so it’s all about doing uncomfortable things for the long term effects. like, yeah, some days self care is forcing yourself out of bed and to eat food and to take the garbage out and to take a shower etc etc etc. but sometimes self care is realising that you’re unable to be productive, and letting yourself take a break and spend the day in bed instead of wearing yourself out to the point of exhaustion. taking it easy on yourself isn’t inherently a bad thing; forcing yourself to constantly Do Stuff isn’t self care if all it does is lead to more exhaustion

i don’t know who needs to hear this tonight but every day can be a fresh start if you decide to make it one. you’ve never been the person you will be tomorrow, and any failures you’ve had to deal with are in the past the second a new morning dawns. any day is a good day to change for the better

being yourself is not shameful. engaging wholeheartedly in your interests is not shameful. being loud and proud about who you are is not shameful. being unique without care of being palatable to society is not shameful. do not let others project their shame onto you for being yourself. you are here for You, first and foremost

be kind to yourself. remember that your journey is your own. don’t punish yourself for not having accomplished as much as x person at age 16, 17, 25, 40– their journey is not yours. your journey is not theirs. just because they are “doing more” than you are at this moment in time, or at that moment in time, does not mean you have wasted your time. you have had different experiences, circumstances, and opportunities. it is not a matter of fault on your part. you will get there, day by day, no matter how long it takes.
