Friendly reminder that fashion rules aren’t real, you can mix as many patterns as you want, your metals don’t have to match, you can wear boots or sneakers with dresses, clothes don’t have gender, trends are fleeting, if you’re comfortable in an outfit then it does fit your body type, every single one of your material possessions will rot into dust someday and so will you, it literally does not matter what cloth you drape your living flesh in, you are going to die and there is so escape. If you feel good in something just put it on, take a deep breath and have some tea or something.

cool so you can hide ads for knowing too much now

hey!

hey!

probably don’t do this!

when you tell facebook an ad “knows too much” you’re essentially confirming that their advertisement algorithm is working, it’s just making people uncomfortable because it’s working too well

it’s still positive feedback on them trying to either flood people with advertisements or socially engineer you into buying things by tracking frankly enormous amounts of data on your location, the other websites and apps you use, your conversations recorded through your phone, everything

instead? just mark all ads as "repetitive” or “irrelevant”- something that doesn’t give them information on how well the ad catered to your tastes.

don’t give huge creepy corporations valuable information on your ad tastes. they will use it against you in any way they can.

idk about y’all but I think it’s pretty terrifying having to personally hear bisexuals in offline spaces express being practically shamed out of openly identifying as bisexual because they’ve internalized the belief that bisexuality is not inclusive of trans/nb ppl and if that doesn’t hit home for you how dangerous misinformation and ahistorical takes are in the current state of LGBT activism then I honestly don’t have much else to say.

I know I made this post about bisexuality specifically but the thing is… you’re also right lol and I don’t think this response should hide in the tags. I made another reblog from this OP but I’m gonna sort of reiterate that here and straight up say that the postmodern movement esp online LGBT activism has done more harm than good. I think we’re doing too much pussyfooting around real intracommunity discussions and being worried about everyone feeling “valid” instead of interrogating real, tangible problems like the ones being brought up here. By not wanting to like, hurt anyones feelings I guess, we ended up creating spaces that are wholly unsafe for the majority of the community.

No one should have to hide themselves in a space where we’re supposed to feel safe, and real concerns shouldn’t be met with accusations of bigotry and oppression (which, trust me, that’s occurred many times), but that’s what’s happening here. And it’s unfair and straight up dangerous that the reckless inclusion is essentially driving so many people back into the closet.

“I think we’re doing too much pussyfooting around real intracommunity discussions and being worried about everyone feeling “valid” instead of interrogating real, tangible problems”

This is so fucking important and well worded…. Bisexuals online and offline have been struggling to call out biphobia because as soon as you say something like “stop portraying bisexuals as shallow apolitical sex obsessed deviants” people will come out of the woodwork to say “but that’s what bisexuality is! why are you oppressing [neolabel]” and any criticism of biphobia, homophobia and transphobia can just be dismissed by calling it “[neolabel] exclusionism” or “[neolabel]phobia” and i think a lot about how this mentality of “every sexuality is valid” has created an environment where you can be as LGBT-phobic as you like and you’re untouchable because you’ve created a flag for your LGBT-phobia and called it a sexuality

Sometimes I just want to be a young man from 20th century England, dressed in a crisp white button-down and tan trousers, maybe smoking a cigarette and gazing out the open window of my room at uni, or maybe sitting at my desk and pouring over texts written in Latin, or maybe wandering around the grounds of campus with my best friend/lover

types of dark academia

classic academia: beige trench coats, wool sweaters. plaid skirts. think femme fatale, but educated. sobbing in bed late at night over the secret history or dead poets society. tea with milk and sugar. subsequent tea stains.

darkest academia: running through the rain, dimly lit by streetlights. brown tweed jackets, dress shoes. cold fingers and colder gazes. french-pressed black coffee, piping hot. dark, candlelit rooms with ancient wood floors/walls.

light academia: white cable-knit sweaters, sparkly eyes and foggy glasses. going to art museums and falling in love with every portrait, every sculpture. caressing the petals of a rose, hearing the crinkle of leaves underfoot.

witchy academia: burning candles while reading or doing homework. black turtlenecks, velvet skirts. walking through the forest in autumn. passing a graveyard and feeling a greyish presence. waiting anxiously for samhain.

romantic academia: writing flowery poetry about someone you’ll never speak to (guilty oops). a cozy alizarin sweater, pleated skirts. slow dancing around your room to the beatles. curling up with warm, pallid cups of tea and a book.

scholarly academia: impeccable notes in class. leather bound bags crammed with textbooks and pens. lots of coffee with scones, and even more late nights. a wide vocabulary (that people constantly comment on). lives in the library.

theatre academia: shakespeare, all the time - quoting, reading, praying for a school production of a midsummer nights dream. or the crucible. memorizing lines in the wings. taking on your character’s traits, even outside the theater.

Negative Man is a very good concept. Like, I can’t help but think how masculine the voice over was trying to make him seem in the flashback, that he’s this big tough army pilot. But when we see him in doom manor, all we see him do is plant, or cook for his friends. It makes him seem really soft and im like, proud of him? he doesn’t have to be the macho man if he doesn’t want to. he can just be the guy with plants

“[Ringo] Starr, however, wasn’t the only one to weep during his interview, although his tears are the only ones caught on camera […] ‘Tom Petty stayed for three hours; he wept,’ producer Nigel Sinclair says […] ‘Every single interview resulted in tears,’ producer Margaret Bodde adds. ‘And this is years after George’s passing, because everyone was connecting with their true love of George and he touched them all in a very obviously special way.’” – Rolling Stone (2011)
“And, George Harrison, what would you like to be remembered for? He pauses. ‘I don’t know…I don’t know.’ And then he smiles and looks you directly in the eyes and you see the face of a man still searching, still looking to extend his gentle vision for all time. He’d like to be remembered, he finally says, ‘just as somebody who’s not bad, not that bad…that’ll do, yeah.’” – BP Fallon (1987)
