Ravings from a crazy Aussie girl.

I'm sorry, but Timber Wolf's design peaked with The Legion of Super Heroes 2006. I mean...

If your version of Brin Londo doesn't look like Jason Momoa's fursona, then I don't want it.

You hear that BRIAN

Me every time someone posts on social media that fake article from Giant Freakin Robot about the Live action Gargoyles movie.

Please people stop posting it, it’s fake, Giant Freakin Robot is unreliable click bate website.

The wrong fan tweeted to the creator of gargoyles and the dog bit back.

How dare your show tell me that others who are different than I are worthy and valid. Please remove that agenda from your show about mistreated yet noble monsters

Happy new year to everyone!

unfortunately I managed to be sick since Boxing Day so...yaay...

Also sinusitis/blocked ears sucks but fortunately antibiotics can help combat one of them

Just a heads-up, Disney’s Gargoyles peddles antisemitism.

This starts in season two, with the introduction of the Illuminati. If you’re familiar with conspiracy theories, you probably already know this is going nowhere good.

We learn that the Illuminati has developed life-extending drugs. So far as I’ve looked into the show it hasn’t specified where these drugs come from, but outside of the show this is a variant of blood libel - the myth is that the conspirators (who are always Jews in some way or another, even if they’re also space aliens or something) are deriving some kind of vitality from the blood of the innocent, particularly children.

One of the Illuminati’s members has an ex-wife named “Mrs. Dreedle.” “Dreedle” is a homonym for “dreidel.”

In one episode, this member locks Goliath into the “Hotel Cabal.” For those who don’t know, the word “cabal” derives from Kabbalah. The episode establishes that the Hotel Cabal is actually a trap designed to make you lose your mind. I don’t know how you can read this as anything other than a metaphor for the conspiracy theory that Jews are controlling the world and thereby keeping the rest of us trapped in a world of artificiality meant to gaslight and deceive us.

The Illuminati is absolutely coded as Satanic; the show’s lore establishes that it has 666 members at any time. Antisemitism typically paints Jews as Satanic.

The show is deep enough into this bullshit that whoever was responsible for it almost certainly knew what they were doing. This isn’t the kind of stuff you got from pop culture in the 90′s; it’s the kind of stuff you learned about from hanging out with deeply antisemitic conspiracy theorists and reading their books.

So yeah, fuck whoever decided to put this in the show, and fuck Disney.

I went back and forth over whether I (a Jewish Gargoyles fan) should respond do this. And I decided yes, not for your benefit… but for the benefit of those who might read your shit.

Let’s start with the fact that the Illuminati was introduced into the show in “The Edge”, which was written and storyedited by Michael Reaves… a Jewish man. Let’s continue with the fact that the creator of the series and Supervising Producer, Greg Weisman, is also Jewish. I mean you apparently did enough research to know about the 666 membership part from the comics but couldn’t be bothered googling who this “Greg Weisman” dude is. Or that the source of the immortality drugs is the Holy Fucking Grail. Actually, you probably did, but that doesn’t support your narrative.  And so, for those of you reading this, here’s Greg Weisman addressing this concern from another, more reasonable person several months back: https://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?qid=25270

So first, thank you for responding to me, and thank you for posting the link. I actually didn’t look into Greg Weisman (an oversight), nor had I seen the Q&A session you linked.

I came at this as someone who has been watching conspiracy theories develop over the last two decades, as well as someone who has been trying to educate themself on conspiracy theories and their origins. This show raised a ton of red flags that I had learned about in my research, much of which came from Jewish people. Unfortunately, I often find myself extremely jumpy these days due to the prevalence of hateful conspiracy theories and the growing power of far-right ideology, and I wasn’t as responsible as I should have been. So I apologize for the misstep, and I thank you for correcting me.

And thank you for this response, it is much, much, much appreciated.

Too true - I hate the designs of timber wolf that’s just a generic brown haired white guy

There is nothing wolf-like about them. No wonder Ayla left him and started dating Shrinking Violet okay, now I'm just bring mean lol

Nah go all out, I never cared for the Timber Wolf and Ayla pairing - in the comics he was kinda creepy towards her so I’m glad that she’s with Shrinking Violet now.

I do ship Timber Wolf and Phantom Girl but only in the animated series not in the comics.

Gargoyles was just ahead of its time, we were so spoiled as children.

Goliath was out here badass Gargoyle chief, warrior, everybody’s dad, most excellent voice.

And then he sheds tears over losing his clan, losing his mate/wife (being betrayed), but not falling ‘out’ of love. But understanding she’d changed emotionally since the 1,000 years, and she wasn’t the same person mentally, and all that hardship changed Demona - but she was always a toxic person, and he had to come to terms with that.

Bad guys had redemption arks. Characters had a lot put on them, were forced to grow and mature faster than expected because they had no one else to put that burden on.

This show was wild.

Anonymous asked:

What's your opinion on the Cassandra Cain controversy in this current Young Justice arc?

First off, I just want to say that I think this arc has so far been awesome! I love it!

But to get to the heart of your question, I became aware of it on Twitter a few days ago... I read the Twitter thread and... let me state for the record that I know very little about Cassandra Cain, Lady Shiva, etc. While Lady Shiva was occassionally around, Cassandra Cain wasn't when I read Batman comics. So let me put the source of any ignorance you may think I have out there.

While I, personally, am not bothered by any of this, I am sympathetic to those who are. If it was my favorite character, if it a character arc that meant a lot to me... I would be, at best annoyed and trying to will myself to think "this is a different universe, a different version... it'll be okay" and at worst, livid... Livid.*

That all said, I only saw people posting their concerns on the change, nobody was attacking the writers and producers of YJ. Nobody was falsely accusing them of sexism or racism. They were talking about a character arc from the comics they love, and expressing disappointment in how it was altered in a civil, adult fashion... and good behavior is not something the internet tends to encourage, so we can be and should be happy about that. The internet tends to go from zero to eleven at the drop of a hat, so it's good to see the criticism be constructive rather than personal.

*I'm still livid to this day over what "The Goliath Chronicles" did to my favorite characters. I'm still not a fan of the split personality aspect of the Green Goblin in the 90's Spider-Man toon and the Raimi movies. Believe me, I get it.

Week 2

A tradition started on Twitter by aetherflows. But since I prefer using tumblr I decided to bring the fun over here!

How it Works:

1. I post new questions every Wednesday.

2. You answer the questions about your WoL or other FFXIV OC.

3. Have fun learning about all kinds of awesome characters!

I’ll be following both #wolsday and #wolsday questions and can’t wait to see your answers!

Today’s question…

What is your WoL/OC’s main motivation as they progress through their story? Whether you are following the MSQ or telling a different story with your OC, what is it that keeps them going forward each day? What is it that they want to gain or achieve? Do they find their motivation in themselves or in someone/thing around them?

Galvan's original motivation was glory as he wanted to prove himself and put his tribe's name out there, he was the second son and child in his family so he felt an extra urge to step out on his own (his brother was a Gunbreaker/Bard bounty hunter and his sister was a Paladin).
