Sometime after takeoff, a man two rows in front of her suddenly became unresponsive, she said, and flight attendants called for help.

In a split second the flight attendant’s reactions projected pervasive ugliness onto this woman who dared speak up and try to save someone’s life. The flight attendant spared no time reminding her that her services were deemed automatically illegitimate and unwanted - especially after when a white male came into the picture.

“I tried to inform her that I was a physician but I was continually cut off by condescending remarks,” Cross said.
The crew then said for any physicians on board to press their call buttons, according to Cross. She elaborated:
I stare at her as I go to press my button. She said “oh wow you’re an actual physician?” I reply yes. She said “let me see your credentials. What type of Doctor are you? Where do you work? The passenger eventually regained consciousness and was answering questions, she said.

Look listen did you know we aren’t taught about this in school??? In Northern Ireland where I live?? We’re taught about the famine and how many Irish people died and why and how many went to America etc but we are NOT taught that a) the English REFUSED to give aid and in fact TOOK MORE FOOD and that b) Native Americans sent money AND grain!! To a country they weren’t even close to! That they’d barely even heard of!! Why aren’t we taught this? (I fucking know why)
