7 signs of a fake geek

  1. Can quote you page and panel on Batman, but doesn’t know shit they should have learned ages ago in middle school, like how the Constitutional right to free speech doesn’t protect you from private citizens punching you in the face
  2. Smugly tells you to distrust the lamestream media, then directs you to an obviously fake news story on a blog run by a wrinkly white guy with a huge grey beard, aviator sunglasses, and a shotgun in his profile pic. 
  3. Thinks they’re a fucking genius yet does not have the ability to tell popular urban legends apart from plausible recent events. 
  4. Can’t tell fiction from reality – will tell you all about what Japan is like based upon their repeated veiwings of a children’s cartoon, or what Medieval Europe was like based on their extensive research studying books about elves. 
  5. Mistakes rhetoric for logic, jacks off to how “logical” they are, has 0 awareness that logically consistent =/= correct, and cannot distinguish between facts and opinions.
  6. Will repeat lies to you like they just discovered the Internet and don’t know what Google is. Will ask you for sources like they don’t know what Google is. Spends every waking hour online. Thinks you’re an idiot if you don’t know what the latest memes are
  7.  Enjoys debating topics that already have extensive evidence and proofs, like whether 1 == 0.999…, despite claiming extensive knowledge of STEM fields. Thinks climate change isn’t real because fat cat scientists are trying to milk the federal government for big bucks. Believes science has proven stuff like “Women have evolved to prefer pink things”. Basically has no idea what scientists do, how they figure things out, or what a reliable source looks like
