May be it’s because I’m old, but I am becoming increasingly inconfortable with seeing people on twitter @ -ing Neil Gaiman to require him to specifically say that Aziraphale and Crowley are gay men, then when he doesn’t, saying again and again that yes it is a love story and you could see it that way but you could also see it as them being trans, asexual, nonbinary, and that it is a love story but the specifics are up to us, the same people use Terry Pratchett death as a blunt object to hit him with. Is that how fandom engage with content creators now? I’m not saying we shouldn’t talk about this things at all, but why being so vicious about it?

Because fans are awful.

Maybe I’m just a fandom crone, but I desperately miss the days when most people kept their fandom opinions/headcanons/wank intra-fandom as opposed to entitledly making it the creator’s problem. I’m not sure where this changed, but I am Not A Fan. Stop crossing the streams, children. You can critique it all day long in our spaces, but stop abusing this actual, living human person with a job and family and a creative life separate from yours because they won’t validate your headcanons. It’s an ugly, ugly look.

Let’s make 2019 the year of taking fandom back underground, respecting creators and performers, and acting like normal humans who understand boundaries.

Very Good Trope: Civillian is told “ stay in the car” while hero goes to confront villain. Hero gets in over head and all seems disaster. Civillian crashes car into villain.

Me, watching: ohhohoho! But they stayed in the car! Yesss, this is very good!

Why is Poison Ivy always so hypersexualized she’s basically a magic farmer she should be wearing muddy boots and complaining about how corn subsidies are killing agriculture as well as flora biodiversity in the US

They want her to be a forest nymph instead of the stem field eco-terrorist feminist that she is

…I had to draw it.

It also fits because she’s a lesbian, and lesbians wear plaid jackets.

To be fair, the in-universe explanation is so she can attract rich men who devastate the environment to her so she can murder them.

…that would only work the first few times.

I think you’re underestimating the stupidity of horny men.
