One reason why Picard promoted Geordi to Chief Engineer, other than Geordi being completely deserving and perfect for the role?
Because there was too much sexual tension on the Bridge.
Picard already has to sit between the sexual tension of amicable exes who still love each other Riker and Troi. Then he has to look directly ahead and see these two fucking yearning at each other all day.
A man can only take so much, okay? And if separating them means that Data will just randomly go visit Geordi in Engineering, so be it. As long as Picard doesn’t have to see it all the damn time :P

ok i just watched star trek: next gen ep 4x11 (data’s day) and i just have so much to say. FIRST i really thought these two were about to kiss in this scene:
also .. data just chillin at geordi’s haircut is so adorable AND data says he considers geordi his best friend in this scene, so precious (all im saying is without geordi’s visor, we would all be able to very clearly see his heart eyes whenever he looks at data)
OH and finally. at the wedding. all this talk of romantic relationships and there at the wedding, data and geordi are standing across from each other, is it gay to be staring at ur best friend while two ppl are legally declaring their love for each other?
