So in origins, it bothers me that’s there’s never really any comfort given to the warden who, from any background, just went through a really terrible thing. Could you do Alistair comforting a romanced FCousland about having lost her entire life and family?
They have barred the doors. Pulling down the planks one by one, and putting their shoulders against the door. It takes three heavy heaves before it finally moves, creaks open enough for them to slip inside. A quiet wind drifts through, turns the dead leaves at their feet. Silence echoes in this place. Windows are cracked, broken. Dust covers each pane, the edges made of ash. Stone has been scorched, and they leave footprints in the soot of it.
Tapestries have been torn down, burned away. The remnants of a table here, crisp pages in the hallway. Their presence disturbs only ghosts. Spiders cling to their cobwebs, watch as they pass. The door to the great hall is skewered. Arrow after arrow, the bludgeoned gaps made by hammer and sword. This door they do not have to fight. This one opens with ease.
Someone had piled the bodies together. Someone had lit their pyre. They are indistinguishable now. Charred, blackened. Long lingering marrow, bones she fears might crumble if she dare touch. So she doesn’t. She only stands before them.
Cousland’s come home.
A hand at her shoulder, moving to her back. Alistair steps closer to her, steps beside her, keeps his arm around her. There is nothing he can say, and so he puts his lips to her temple, the hushed kiss, and stands with her. His hand moves in slow circles at her back, and she leans against him. Steady against her, a rock to keep her upright. “What can I do?” he asks.
They work together. They pull away weeds and dead flowers, and twist the garden into something else. Through the night they dig, hole after hole. They carry each body, one by one. A proper burial, prayers given to each one. When they are done, standing on fresh earth, he reaches for the bag he had brought. Pulling it free, he hands it to her.
A tapestry, newly sewn. The Cousland heraldry sits proudly at the center of it. They hang it over the barred door. Fergus will come back from Denerim to find his castle empty and waiting. Despite the burial given, she knows Oriana and Oren will still haunt him in the halls. She slips a hand into Alistair’s. He takes it instantly, holds it tightly. It’s enough. Enough to walk away.
Morrigan: These Elven sentinels look strange. not like the Elves I’m used to.
Inquisitor: Yeah, they’re really tall and have these really exaggerated features and wide-set eyes the only other elf I’ve seen like that is…. Hey Solas, come stand next to this guy for a sec-
Solas: (shoving breadsticks in his purse) Actually, I have to go home. Right now. Immediately.
CONFESSION:
As a Dalish fan it angered me When Abelas told my Lavellan “You are not my people.” Then my opinion and love for Solas diminished when he said I was the exception to my people. That got me angry and it made me see Solas for what he truly is. And then I realized the Dalish are preserving the culture of a people that would likely never accept them as they are. And then I realized the Dalish need to let go of the past and find their own way because the Ancient Elves would look upon them with pity. I have no interest in joining a group of people who will think I am beneath them and I hope part of the next story revolves around helping elves realize they are basically being used. I’m confessing this here because if I even mentioned this on my blog some people in the fandom would ridicule me.
The Road to Elvhenan.
This is absolutely the best use of my time.
always reblog!
HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS?
Arrested Dragon Age, starring Sigrid Trevelyan.
(While it’s true that I’m not a huge Solas fan, this is not intended as character hate. He just happens to be the butt of this particular joke <:P)
“hawke said you can tape his mouth shut but you’re not allowed to kill him.”
Hawke learns that the Avaar commune with spirits, play host to them and then, most importantly, seperate again without issue. He brings Anders to the Hold and asks for the help of the Avaar people before he loses Anders completely.
Whumptober Day 27: “I can’t walk.”
This prompt made me think of Dragon Age: Inquisition, when Cullen comes and helps you make it back to Skyhold. :3
Hey fandom mom, would you also draw dwarves?

Blackwall: You saved me, Inquisitor. I owe you my life. Inquisitor: No, thanks. I’ve seen it and I’m not impressed.
Shrine of Dumat Journey.
When you’re the only male with all girls party. You have to watch and protect them all night. :p
DAI companions reacting to a teen-inquisitor being hit on by some creep, and looking to them for some help.
I honestly have no excuse for the lack of updates other than school. Speaking of I did not get in to NHS but I got into the culinary program so I’m happy.

Cass- She is not having it at all. The moment she saw the strange person come near them she herself got closer to the Inquisitor. When she hears what they say to the young Inquisitor she immediately intervenes. She asks them to kindly leave and if they don’t she makes them leave. She tells the young Inquisitor that if something like that ever happens again to go and tell her.
Varric- When he first sees the stranger he just thinks they are going to make idle conversation with the Inquisitor. However when he sees how uncomfortable they look and how they look at him for help he immediately steps over. “I see your getting along with our dear Inquisitor? I’m curious, have you met Cassandra or Leliana? You know they don’t take to kindly to people who seemingly make the Inquisitor distressed and will do anything to make them happy.” His threat does the trick and they leave rather pale faced. “Just let Cass or Leliana know. They’ll deal with it.
Solas- He had been walking in the main hall when he saw the Inquisitor with a stranger. Like varric he thought they were making conversation. However when he sees the Heralds expression and how uncomfortable they look he steps in. “Ahh da'len, there you are. You had told me how you needed help with that alchemy problem. I have been looking for you all day.” The herald is eternally grateful for Solas stepping in. He does tell them to also tell Cassandra so that any further incident does not occur.
Iron Bull- He made note of the strange person standing far too close to the Inquisitor. When he sees the Inquisitors expression he knows to just step in. He didn’t even have to say anything to the person. Just one simple glare makes the person almost piss themselves. The Inquisitor thanks Bull for the help. “Any time kid.”
Sera- She was definitely wary of the strange person standing next to the Inquisitor and all it took was one obvious uncomfortable expression for her to intervene. The person is pranked alarmist immediately. And even for the remainder of their stay at Skyhold they are continuously pranked by a random Elf. They Inquisitor goes to thank Sera only for her to say “Don’t sweat it yeah? They made you uncomfortable and if something like that ever happens again you tell me. I’ll handle it.”
Blackwall- The Inquisitor was tending to their horse when an unknown individual made their way over. He kept a careful eye on them. When he sees how uncomfortable the Inquisitor was getting with the person presence he goes over to them. “Come on now. You and I have training today.” He looks over at the person and tells them “I would suggest that you leave the herald alone. Unless you would like to take the place of the practice dummy.” The threat works and they leave. The herald thanks Blackwall and he just says if it happens again to go to him.
Dorian- When he’s in the Skyhold library he notices a random person staring at the young Herald. He doesn’t like the look on the persons face and he steps in. They don’t even get a chance to get near the Herald and he makes a comment to them. “With the way you are staring I would hope you stare at a book the same way. But should you not leave I will make you.” The herald doesn’t pay attention to what is happening until Dorian says what he says. When he tells them they thank him for it.
Vivienne- All it took was the uncomfortable glance they gave her. And she immediately went up to them. “One would think you have something better to do rather than ask the herald such thing. Especially when the herald is a teen. I wonder how your loved ones would react.” She puts them on the spot and takes no excuse they come up with. She tells them to leave Skyhold all together. “Such things will not be tolerated my dear, but do tell me if something like this happens again.”
Cole- “A sly grin and easy comment. I don’t want you here. Leave me alone.” He feels the Heralds distress and goes to help them. Making the person bothering them forget why they were there. The herald thanks Cole and he states “ They made you uncomfortable and unsafe. I couldn’t let that happen.”
