This @TL_mag shoot has gone to the dogs! My sleeve is torn, and you’re in a bow tie! David Gandy covers TL_mag | Pro Materia Autumn/Winter issue; photos by Martina Bjorn.

The league of extraordinary gentleman. In their Autumn/Winter edition (Issue No. 22) the editors of TLMag chose 15 men from various walks of life and creative professions whom they believe embody the qualities of the contemporary gentleman. It is no surprise that David Gandy made their list or that he is on the cover. Photographed by Martina Bjorn, David gives us a perfect vision of the gentleman after an evening on the town. In two of the photos, we see David wearing a crisp white shirt open at the collar, his black Henry Poole bow tie undone as if getting ready for a soothing night cap. In our favorite photo from the grouping, David appears to be very deep in conversation with his little friend, who has somehow obtained his bow tie, while David’s shirt appears somewhat torn at the cuff. Perhaps, their conversation went something like this: David: “Yes Alfie, I’m aware my sleeve is torn, and before you say it, no, it didn’t happen while I was flexing my muscles. By the way mate, your bow tie is crooked.” Alfie: “Thank you, DG, it’s ruff being this cute.” We admire David for many reasons, but his sense of humor and ability to not take himself too seriously is one of his most endearing qualities.

David Gandy turns on the charm and lights up the night for @MountStreet Mayfair.

Let it be Christmas everywhere, In the hearts of all people, Both near and afar, Christmas everywhere, Feel the love of the season where ever you are, On the small country roads, Lined with green mistletoe, Big city streets where a thousand lights glow……. With the push of a button, David Gandy and his two lovely helpers, Lily and Scarlet, officially kicked off the Christmas season, bathing Mount Street in thousands of twinkling lights. Thanking everyone for coming out, and wishing all a Merry Christmas, David announced that Lily and Scarlet would be pushing the button, saying “he would just muck it up.” However, those of us who follow David understand that it wasn’t about “mucking it up”, but simply his generous and lovely spirit, stepping aside to give the girls the delight of turning on the lights. When we think of the charitable heart of Christmas, we think of the many quiet ways David gives back the people and city he loves. As the holiday season begins, we wish all you a joyous and blessed season.

The global food system is broken: many families can’t afford enough nutrient rich foods like fresh fruit and vegetables while foods and drinks high in fat, sugar and salt are cheap and readily available.

Undernutrition and overweight are now problems affecting people within the same communities.

Country leaders from around the world are gathering at the Second International Conference on Nutrition in Rome this month to commit to action needed to fix the global food system. Learn more: http://www.fao.org/icn2

TIP: Consider taking that record deal, even if it does mean compromising the band’s signature sound.

"The Arctic had been transformed over the decade I had spent documenting through the lens of my camera. I was the ship’s expedition photographer. My photographs were about awe and beauty. To return here would mean documenting the devastation. This place was sacred to me, it was like no where else on the planet."
