Inspired by this prompt, an enemies to lovers with fake dating AU set in the music industry.

Summary:

Lexa is the frontwoman of The Grounders, a pop-rock band whose last album fell a little flat. Clarke Griffin is a falsey branded nice girl next door making pop folk music. They're on the same label and both not doing so hot, and they have a long history of hating each other.

The executives of the label think there’s a perfect way to revive both struggling artists as they watch a cheeky internet feud unfold in real time and the corresponding amount of comments on how hot and flirty it is from fans. 

Monday morning, Clarke and Lexa find themselves in the head of marketing’s office with the c-suite team with a new proposal:

They need to pretend to be a couple as a publicity stunt, or they’re losing their contracts. And the catch? They have to write and record a sexy song together and perform it live on a few big stages to sell the relationship to the public….or they’re off the label for good.

They can't stand each other and make each other miserable, but they need to make nice and make music together for the summer while keeping all of their feelings in the right lanes.

The Swiftgron Timeline Remastered

It’s high time the Swiftgron Masterpost was updated with more content and a cross reference of the Achele timeline and other newly learned information.

Now if you’re just looking to prove that Swiftgron is real to your friends click here for a more succinct summation of proof.  But if you want to read the sad, beautiful, tragic (no that’s not a Swiftgron song) story of Swiftgron, to go through the ups and downs, from the Hunger Games to SNL this is the place for you!

I was inspired to do this partially by this conversation.  TL;DR is there was some lively discourse in the fandom about who the breakup songs on Red are about.  

Personally, it doesn’t make sense to me for them to be about Dianna when the falling in love songs are obviously about her (mentions of green eyes, her name in the 22 liner notes, ect.)  For one quick example: the songs The Last Time and Come Back…Be Here were written and recorded right around the same time.

I’m sorry but I just cannot fathom those two songs being about the same person.  One is about the softest start to a relationship you’ve ever imagined - pining away and missing someone you barely know but are already infatuated with and the other is a gut wrenching heartbreak song about someone you’ve been on and off with for a long time.

Furthermore the Swiftgron masterpost and timeline was laid out by either Kaylors or general Gaylors, but no one who seems to have an in depth knowledge of Achele or even of Taylor’s relationships before Dianna, other than Emily which by all accounts ended in 2008.  

So I wanted to fill in all the blanks left open on the original Swiftgron masterpost to see if it’s possible that it missed anything.

Plenty of this data will still come from the original Swiftgron masterpost and shoutout to them for building such an amazing document!  It’s a great primer but it does gloss over a lot of events such as the Glee tour in the summer of 2011, the circumstances around all the early Swiftgron meetings, and the obvious Achele interactions through early winter 2012, and of course it’s missing all the weird late stage Swiftgron social media shenanigans.

I wanted to make this masterpost to be able to stand alone so I ripped some gif sets and other info (mostly on Achele) that I didn’t personally build because I don’t ever want anyone running into dead links.  If you see an edit or content you made that I haven’t credited please let me know and I will credit you or remove it if you really want me to.

The other reason I made this was I wanted to have one succinct and chronological place to store every single Swiftgron photo, video, or media of any other type.  If it’s Swiftgron related I will find it and add it here.  If I missed something you can let me know by reaching out to me on my usual blog @swiftgron-get-married. 

For those of you that are new to Gaylor here’s a few notes:

1.  If Taylor seems fruity to you it’s cause she does to everyone else.  Welcome.

2.  Swiftgron is the pairing of Taylor Swift and Dianna Agron.

3.  Achele is the pairing of Dianna Agron and Lea Michele.  It happened before Swiftgron (I think summer 2009 - Early 2012).  Achele was real 100%.  Go to Achele References on Tumblr for more info but just know I have reason to believe Achele actually dated beyond public information.  Take that with a grain of salt of course and look at the evidence for yourself.

4.  At some points in this document I reference a forum called The L Chat - that place is a wasteland of biphobia, transphobia, and other gross things but they did closely track Swiftgron and Achele.  I don’t recommend going there as it can be very triggering to some.  I have gone and pulled out relevant data so you don’t have to go there.

5.  There is a notion in the Gaylor fandom that Dianna was toxic, a serial cheater, and I’ve even heard the word “abusive” thrown around due to the fact that the breakup songs on Red do seem to be about a toxic relationship - Taylor has said as much.  

Given what I’ve heard about DIanna from people who have actually had contact with her - this would be incredibly out of character.  She does have the reputation of being a bit of a player but is literally famous for how kind, giving, compassionate, and amiable she is to fans, coworkers, and friends alike.

I believe that this document proves that due to events on the timeline that although Swiftgron definitely had their ups and downs (Babe definitely suggests at least one instance of a lack of faithfulness, and I’ve clocked at least two obvious breakups before Taylor commits to Karlie and the Swiftgron romance is over for good) however the idea that it was a completely toxic mess is just not supported by actual public data, gathered evidence, and Taylor’s own music and words.

Sneak Peak of my upcoming enemies to lovers holiday fic, Honey, You’re Golden! Really looking forward to putting this one out and can’t thank you all enough for your patience!

Clarke has spent over a decade trying to forget Lexa Woods. As a  bobsled pair on the junior circuit, they’d been unbeatable and the favorites to win gold at Vancouver 2010.  When Lexa suddenly walked out on her and Team USA to race for Team Canada one week before the Olympic qualifiers, Clarke swore she’d never rely on anyone ever again, let along let them close to her heart. She’d done a commendable job at moving on too. Despite being the senior most member on the team, and their fastest brakeman, she’d never managed to qualify for the Olympics, but she’s happy. Content. She leads Team USA with her experience and love for the sport, and no one can take that away from her. Not even Lexa Woods.

She has one more season in left in her before retirement and she intends to finally put the ghosts of her past to rest and qualify for her last shot at the Olympics. When her partner is injured in a freak accident one month before qualifiers, she refuses to let it deter her. What she’s entirely not prepared for, is for her past to come barreling into her present.

Also don’t imagine Lexa’s reaction to that because she would just have herself even more than she already does. And she would want to try and comfort Clarke but at the same she probably thinks she’ll make it worse.

As soon as the words leave her mouth, as soon as they’ve escaped their prison, the moment they’ve been set loose on the world after so long being hidden away and denied, Clarke wants nothing more than for them to be tangible, to be able to snatch them from the air and swallow them back down into the dark. 

They aren’t tangible though, and the damage has been done. Lexa, for all her usual calm, for all her walls and masks, looks like she’s been struck. Looks far more gutted and broken than when Clarke had held a knife to the tender skin of her throat, than when she had shoved at her and spat that she hated her -would always hate her, that lying manipulative piece of shit. Lexa stands there, set against the sunlight in her grand gleaming tower, and Clarke, teeth clenched against the coming tears, watches with something like horror as she crumbles to dust. 

She watches the words sink in, take root; watches as they start to wrap and choke like vines, watches as that infallible, infuriating composure starts to slip. Watches, tears winning out, brimming and falling down her cheeks, as Lexa fights and fails to keep herself together. 

“I loved you,” Clarke says again, soft as smoke, jagged as broken glass, as if it could possibly fucking change anything.  

She’s never heard Lexa cry before, never seen her emotions win out so utterly, but there’s a first for everything, isn’t there. 

She’s quiet about it, still fighting, even as the smallest of sobs and whimpers spill into the world. She’s doesn’t reach up to brush away the tears that streak down her face and make her kohl run, rather, her hands stay fisted by her sides, white knuckled and trembling like she’s clutching at the last line, the last tether she’s got keeping herself together. 

“I’m not sorry,” Lexa breathes, sniffling, after what feels like an eternity, “I saved my people.” 

They’ve done this dance enough now for Clarke to know when she means something, when she believes in something, and when she’s reciting lines, echoing whatever platitudes help her sleep at night.

“The duty to protect my people comes first. I’m not sorry.” She sounds so devastatingly broken that Clarke has to swallow down the urge to throw up. Her eyes are wide and wet and so far away, like she’s off somewhere, all alone, scrabbling at her teachings, her doctrine, in an attempt to stay grounded, ‘lest she drift away on the tides of her guilt and grief. 

“Duty stands on the back of sacrifice. I’m not sorry.” 

She shatters apart when Clarke closes the distance, knees giving out, landing hard on the floor with a sharp cry. Wretched, and frighteningly pathetic, working herself into hysterics. 

Clarke loved her, wanted to be, might have been, had things gone differently, in love with her. She’d admired and respected and trusted her, loved her, so ardently, so deeply; was likely the first to do so in ages. 

“I’m not sorry, I’m not sorry,” She’s not even breathing, and chokes hard and violent on her words when Clarke weaves her fingers through her hair. 

Lexa is an enigma, speaking in riddles more often than not. But Clarke knows her, Clarke’s seen her. Clarke knows where to find her, the scared struggling little girl, buried under the mantle she bears. Clarke knows how to find the truth in the lies Lexa tells herself.

Duty stands on the back of sacrifice, the duty to protect and save her people coming before anything Lexa might ever want or dream of having for herself, but despite that, she is so very terribly sorry that the price to be paid had to be so high.

It doesn’t change what happened, but it might just change where they go from there.
