why are star wars planets more boring than earth and our solar system like sure we’ve seen desert, snow, diff types of forest, beach, lava, rain, but like… 

rainbow mountains (peru)

red soil (canada/PEI)

rings (saturn’s if they were on earth) 

bioluminescent waves

northern lights (canada)

salt flats (bolivia, where they filmed crait but did NOTHING COOL WITH IT except red dust?? like??? come ON)

and cool fauna like the touch me not or like, you know, the venus flytrap.. and don’t get me started on BUGS like… we have bugs cooler than sw aliens

BASICALLY like???? come on star wars you had one (1) job where are the cool alien species

I KNOW!! I did a report on filming locations in Star Wars last year and just made a list of places that looked so surreal they could make a convincing other planet. You covered some on my list but if I could just add a couple more:

Tsingy di Bemaraha, Madagascar

Zhangye Danxia, China (similar to the Rainbow Mountains in terms of appearance)

Chocolate Hills, Philippines

Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland

So many missed opportunities with cool ass things on Earth, Lucasfilms smh…

thinking about how orpheus turning to look back at eurydice isn’t a sign of mortal frailness but a sign of love

This is true no matter the version you're reading.

1. Eurydice trips and Orpheus turns to help her because he loves her.

2. Orpheus cannot hear Eurydice behind him, and fearing that he's been tricked, turns to make sure she's there.

3. Orpheus makes it out of the Underworld, and so full of love and excitement to be with Eurydice, turns to embrace her, forgetting that they both need to be out of the Underworld.

No matter what happens in the story, Orpheus loses Eurydice because his love for her compels him to look.

Don’t forget Gluck’s opera, where Eurydice doesn’t know Orpheus is forbidden to look back, Orpheus is also forbidden to tell her, she assumes he must not love her anymore, and Orpheus finally looks back to reassure her of his love because he can’t bear her anguish.

In that version in particular, but possibly in all retellings, a part of us wants Orpheus to look back, because his failure proves his love.

Hi guys, I really hate to basically start 2021 like this but I’m in a bit of a tight spot! Last year, a couple of irls each borrowed significant amounts of money from me to help them and their families get through the pandemic. They’re in the restaurant business and as we all know that industry has taken a big hit, and it’s looking like they won’t be able to pay me back anytime soon. This is not their fault and I thought I’d be okay while waiting, but within a few months of me lending the money my air conditioner, laptop, phone, and one of my turtle’s aquariums broke and I had to replace all four (Alexa play “No Good Deed Goes Unpunished”). I took a second job to help offset the costs, but I was recently just informed that the company is folding as it also sustained heavy losses from the pandemic (💀) and my salary from my primary job keeps getting delayed due to lack of manpower brought about by quarantine restrictions, plus they no longer dole out overtime pay because we’re all working from home.

As a result, with all my utility bills, medical and vet expenses, groceries, my building’s association dues, and my insurance premium, I am currently in the red. Some help would be greatly appreciated and, as such, starting today until a month-ish from now (February 26), I will match all the funds that come in via Ko-fi with the word count for a Ben POV sequel/companion fic to The Heartbreak Prince, which I will start posting in August. Since Ko-fi tips are in USD, I will correspond the word count to the converted total in my local currency (as of this writing it’s 1 USD = 48 PHP).
