in the recent hello counselor episode a woman came here saying her husband hurts their children on purpose to make them cry ‘because its cute’, he puts his worn underwear and socks on their heads and he kisses and touches his sons private part which makes the son very uncomfortable and distressed and he hides from him in the closet, the son was even hitting the dad when he was sitting next to him. the father admitted to all this on the show. he admitted to sexually abusing his son and no one there took it seriously they still laughed about it and added their quirky editing. this show is fucking trash and im so sickened by the way they treat serious problems, this should obviously be investigated, not treated as a fucking joke

This is also where I found a stray cat, she was up in there during a thunderstorm and I begged my dad to let me being her inside and that’s the story of how I got my first cat.

the ‘eldest sisters are oppressed’ thing is based on the fact that the oldest girls in many families are, a lot of the time, drafted into watching her younger siblings to the point that shes more of a young third parent than a kid anymore. shes expected to be incredibly responsible while her younger siblings get to make mistakes. she get to do more housework than her father because apparently men shouldn’t have to watch laundry.

op is obviously referring to the ways in which older sisters ( nope not brothers) are forced into maternal roles by both society and their parents for a number of reasons, not limited to society’s insistence that they must learn to become mothers early. theres also the fact that many families both need and cant afford childcare. this idea that an oldest sister is free childcare is bullshit.

There’s a book called “The Eldest Daughter Effect” that goes into detail about this. And it applies to the oldest daughter so even if the oldest child is a boy and the second child is a daughter, she is the one who ends up getting all that extra pressure and responsibilities for younger siblings.

The situation is Bangladesh is really messed up. LIVES ARE IN DANGER. The government has been punishing KIDS for standing up for what is right and doing the damn job these grown ass people can’t do instead of going to school. No kid has been going to school for the past week. Brutalities were committed against our fellow brothers and sisters for doing nothing but peacefully and effectfully bringing order to the streets and demanding for their RIGHT to safety. Now since this morning the police and allegedly government associated student party have invaded university campuses and started attacks. Over at least 50 students are injured and they are being treated in small nurse’s uni offices where they can. My cousins’ friends have sent pictures showing the ATROCITIES going on in there right now, and crying for help because the medical offices inside campuses have run out of medical supplies, water and food. Young people are getting out in the streets and doing whatever they can, they are risking their careers and futures too, and more importantly, their lives. Mothers are anxious and crying over their children having to do this in the country where it should be least expected. Our STUDENTS fought for the right to speak our language. Our STUDENTS have fought for our independce. And now our STUDENTS are being punished for simply wanting safety. 

This is not political at all. It is a humanitarian cry for help. Police have been attacking universities for 6 hours until they ran out of tear gas shell and rubber bullets. They are still beating our brothers and sisters up in the streets. Please spread this as much as you can. The past 2 days have just consisted of a series of awful illegal events in Dhaka. God knows what will happen next.

Not BTS related but I don’t know how else to get attention. But basically the deaths of 2 high school students waiting at a bus stop caused by racing buses trying to get to passengers fastest caused a movement among the students of Bangladesh. Kids ranging from ages 7 to 18 are roaming the streets demanding better road safety protesting, controlling traffic and making sure all the cars were going the right way and that all drivers had licences. Teenagers did in 2 days what the government and trained police officers haven’t been able to do in 46 years. The streets of Bangladesh have never been so Clean and organized. Unfortunately the government haven’t been fond of people half their age taking control over the nation so they ordered police officers to beat up kids on the streets who were peacefully protesting. Young kids are getting hit with bats and are getting run over by trucks and the government is doing nothing. What’s worse is that they’re messing with our social media accounts to stop us from posting about what’s happening so that it doesn’t go international. We’re all trying desperately to get international attention so that the government will finally stop torturing innocent young kids who are fighting for a better nation. Teenagers are being kidnapped and people are being hired by people in power to stop us from speaking out about this. Please if you can spread this story on any social media platform you can Use the hashtag #wewantjustice and #wewantjusticeforbangladesh and tag news channels and people who can spread the word. Please. I know that this doesn’t really concern most of you but we are desperately in need of help.

im making another post because my other post needs an update and it’s extremely slow.

warning for guns, death, violence, and animal abuse.

i am 21, i live with my 10 year old sister and mother. a couple months ago, our neighbors shot into my bedroom almost at point blank range. there are 3 bullet holes in my room, two of which are directly next to my bed. i was grazed by a bullet on the arm.

even a few days ago, there was a shooting in broad daylight, and two bullets entered our living room again. we were lucky enough to be away from home, but a 6 year old boy was shot and killed less than 30 ft away from our apartment. three weeks ago, a man was found shot dead in the neighboring apartment, literally adjacent to my living room. he was there for days and at one point i could smell the body from my couch, but at the time i had no idea what it was. even before then, 6 months ago, my windows were shot at and the glass broke. there is an overwhelming amount of gun violence where we live because of drug and gang activity of my neighbors, which brings everything right to our doorstep. most of our other neighbors have moved out because of that very reason, we are one of the last ones left. i cannot express how critical our situation is. we are risking our lives everyday to live here.

i am riddled with anxiety every day. i live everyday wondering if today is the day it happens again. my sister won’t even sleep in our room because she’s afraid of being shot again. when she hears loud noises, she drops to the ground and covers her head. no child should have to live like this and it makes me cry to even think about it. she’s 10 and she’s seen more pain already than anyone should see in a lifetime. imagine living every single day wondering if you’ll be shot in your bed, or taking a shower, or watching tv.

our neighbors are blatant criminals, they don’t give a fuck if we live or die. they have dog fights in our front yard (video) they’ve harassed my mom over calling the police, and we feel intimidated by them. it’s hard to call the police when the police never arrest them and retaliation is a very real thing.

on top of that, our apartment is shitty and I’d rather not go into details, but we are missing basic things like a working shower and air conditioning. we have begged our landlord to fix these things for an entire year and we’ve gotten nowhere. our ceiling caved in in august of last year and it still hasn’t been fixed. no one has even come to patch up the multiple bullet holes in the apartment, despite us asking several times over and over.

I have a job, but my mom’s credit and rental history is extremely sketchy and we always have to prepay our rent or have a huge deposit in order for anyone to rent to us. but most times, they won’t even accept our application, period. and on top of that, my mom does independent work and although she makes enough to support us, it’s not enough to save the literal thousands of dollars we need to move, and rental companies usually don’t want to acknowledge the income that she makes because she has no check stubs. and every time we amass a little bit in savings, something happens that wipes it all out. and we still have to pay rent to live like this.

we’re just feeling very stuck and helpless right now, it seems like there is no way out for us no matter what we do. it’s going to take an enormous amount of money to get us out of here.

i have video evidence for those who’d like to see it, and video of the dog fight that happened in our front yard. (tw for animal abuse, but blood isn’t clearly visible) it may be hard to watch for some people. i am not lying or trying to pull a scam. i am just doing everything in my power to get my family out of this fucking piece of shit of an apartment.

to make a long story short, we are homeless right now. we finally moved into another place, but our new landlord found out that my mom was living with me but her name wasn’t on the lease. he said we breached our contract, and my mom is under a chapter 13 bankruptcy so the company wouldn’t allow her to put her name on the lease, not even in the first place. we were given 3 days to leave and that was 5 days ago. in order to move back into our old place I need to pay the $840 balance I owed there to get back in. until then, we’re sleeping in the car. the money we had was used to put our belongings in storage, get a p.o. box to receive mail, and a membership to the Y so we could shower and bathe. we’re broke and sleeping in the car right now. we don’t have anywhere to go, and our car doesn’t even have air conditioning. we spend our days in the library and in different stores, but at nighttime we’re on our own. you can imagine how hard it is to sleep in 90+ degree heat with no aircon. We also need to buy personal hygiene things like baby wipes, dry shampoo and things to keep clean if we can’t get to a shower.

school is also starting on monday for my little sister and this is a terrible time for something like this to happen. we were lucky enough to get help with her school supplies from a local church, but she needs to buy uniforms desperately. I made a wishlist here with some clothes and shoes for her if anyone would like to help her out.

So we need money to survive until my next paycheck or pay my balance at the old place so we can immediately move in. I’m not gonna be online super regularly. I have PayPal here if anyone can help.

On 29th of July 2018, 7 school going students were killed by a reckless bus driver. The students protested with slogans on the same bus stand.

Since then All students of Bangladesh are protesting for safer roads and more strict regulations.

Their intention was never to harm even a single person. Neither it is now.

But today POLICE AND PEOPLE OF CHHATRO LEAGUE(a student council that’s controlled by the government) tortured students with tear shell, they beat students brutally and raped the female students (on 4th August 2018). The students are trying to defend themselves with sticks and tree branches that they’ve found on the streets.

Till now 4 students have been murdered and other 4 female students have been raped. 2 students lost their eye. And the Government is sitting there silent.

WE NEED YOUR HELP. PLEASE.

LET THE WORLD KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON IN BANGLADESH.

in 2017 dior copied the design of a traditional romanian coat from the county of bihor and sold it for 30,000 euro, giving no credit to the local artisans. in response, romanian fashion magazine beau monde helped the community create their own brand, bihor couture, which sells the original coat, handmade to order, for 500 euro a piece. they also sell other traditional clothing and jewelry for much more accessible prices (5-45 euro). they’ve been hugely successful so far, and currently have enough pre-orders to cover 4.5 years of work, with 100% of the profits returning to the community. 

it’s surprisingly common for big name fashion designers like dior, gaultier, tom ford and altuzarra to copy traditional romanian clothing and sell it for ridiculous prices, with minimal original input, while giving nothing back to the community where these designs originated. it’s completely unfair that a big name designer can just steal so much hard work and misuse it to make huge profits. 

please support bihor couture, if not by ordering one of their products, then by spreading the news around. it’s really awesome to see a small community fight back against cultural appropriation so successfully. i hope they carry on for a long time!

I’m a guy, and I need feminism. Not “men’s rights.” Feminism. Here is why.

Everything that MRAs talk about that men can’t do or are socially punished for arise directly and immediately from misogyny. Not “misandry.” Misogyny. Whether I am expressing my emotions, playing with children, baking, having sex wherein I am penetrated in any way, wearing the wrong color, talking the wrong way, moving the wrong way, being sexually harassed/assaulted, or paying too little attention to looking like I’m not paying attention to how I look, when society punishes me or derides me or marginalizes me for these things, it is happening because they are things women, not men, are expected to do, and our society at large fucking hates women.

Has that sunk in yet?

Men, can you even think of a single goddamn way you have ever been mocked that wasn’t related to something that a misogynist society sees as feminizing? Even when large men are mocked for their bodies, they are referred to as having “man-boobs,” for fucks sake.

How do you expect to improve those things with “men’s rights?” What right are you fighting for? I can tell you what I think you’re fighting for. I think you’re fighting for the right to contain and control misogyny, and direct it back at women, where you think it belongs. You want to maintain your privilege but erase its consequences, and that’s why your movement is farcical; it’s a big fucking feedback loop. How do you expect men to be free from the peripheral effects of misogyny when you refuse to even fucking believe it’s real?

One of my best friends lived in Kingston, and she’s one of the main organizers against the MRA group of campus. Since she and her friends have begun organizing against this group, she’s gotten threatening/sexually explicit phone calls, several people have been physically harassed, and there’s been at least one assault (I’m being vague by my friend’s request). 

There is serious shit going down in Kingston right now, and the people who are speaking out against the MRA group on campus are not safe. 

Please, do not let this stay under the radar. The campus MRA group may or may not be involved in the harassment, but they’re definitely attracting the people who are. 

And for everyone time we’ve laughed at how ridiculous MRAs are, remember: they can, and do, fucking hurt people.
