My favorite thing about Sweeney Todd is that Sweeney gets into the killing-and-baking people business because he’s a deeply broken man destroyed by an unjust and corrupt system that cost him his freedom and family and has been driven mad by revenge.

And Mrs Lovett does it because somthin wrong with her <3

chrome users, your browser is about to start targeting advertising for you

In 2011, Adblock Plus and Eyeo attracted considerable controversy over its "Acceptable Ads" program to "allow certain non-intrusive ads" (such as Google Ads) to be allowed under the extension's default settings. [...] In June 2013, blogger Sascha Pallenberg accused the developers of Adblock Plus of maintaining business connections to "strategic partners in the advertising industry", and called ABP a "mafia-like advertising network" [...] In September 2016, Eyeo announced that it would launch a "marketplace" for ads that meet its acceptability criter.

UblockOrigin is recommended by Firefox, works on the mobile browser on Android, does not practice predatory bullshit like ABP and is also open source.

ok @tonightatomic posting about this warriors show made me look it up and that led me to this woman's wiki article and i'm sorry i want a biopic RIGHT. NOW.

"Tye Leung Schulze (August 24, 1887 – March 10, 1972) became the first Chinese American woman to vote in the United States when she cast a ballot in San Francisco on May 19, 1912. She also became the first Chinese American woman to pass the civil service exams and to occupy a government job. The San Francisco Call stated that she was "the first Chinese woman in the history of the world to exercise the electoral franchise." Schulze was also the first Chinese woman hired to work at Angel Island. She is a designated Women's History Month Honoree by the National Women's History Project."

AND

"When pinball machines were introduced to Chinatown in the 1930s, Leung built a reputation for herself locally as a pinball wizard She was famously photographed in a Studebaker. Many compared Leung to Sun Yat-sen, who also embraced democracy and had an affinity for Studebaker convertibles."

here is a picture of her in a studebaker

WHERE IS THE FILM

To be clear to those unfamiliar: these are the companies that libraries use to lend ebooks.

They are literally cutting off library access to minors.

BROOKLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY IS STILL OFFERING E-CARDS FOR TEENS+YOUNG ADULTS IN HELL STATES

i saw fall out boy last night with @scarygodmother and it was fun as hell and even though we left early i feel like we had the full concert experience including:

--a ton of weed smoke

--an opening band that sucked and we made fun of them (bring me the horizon, they are weird)

--there was a fight in the pit at one point and pete wentz broke it up by saying ‘look, you don’t wanna brag tomorrow that you got in a fight at a fuckin fall out boy show’

--the girl a couple seats down from scarygodmother got too drunk/high/something and had to be wheeled out on a wheelchair by medics

i just drove 4 hours through the mountains by myself singing along to my silly playlist and shrieking kate bush songs and honestly it was therapeutic

I was raised agnostic and tend to remain ambiguous on theological matters.

~*Spiritual Experience*~

I just watched my neighbor try to unload an actual wooden pallet that had to have been forklifted into the back of his insecurity pickup worth of fireworks.

Except that he does not have a forklift in his garage.

He does have so much sports memorabilia and cardboard boxes of unsold MLM Merchandise and patriotically themed camping gear and posters of women in bikinis and flags of suspect political organizations in his garage that there is only BARELY enough space for the fireworks and certainly none for his truck.

So he had to unload the individual boxes of recreational explosives from the back of his truck and stack them in the minimal space he had cleared by hand. This is a tedious and time-consuming process as this neighbor has purchased a wide variety of recreational and locally illegal explosives instead of many of just a few types, so the individual boxes are rather small.

He begins, and this is crucial to what happens next, by cutting apart the industrial-grade saran wrap his explosives dealer had so carefully wrapped his merchandise in, and discarded it unsecured on his lawn.

oh my god this New Yorker article about the Titan holy fucking shit fuck???

Some notes: 1. the electrical system was designed by engineering undergrads who were working as interns. 2. because it is illegal to take passengers on an unclassed experimental submersible, they called the passengers "mission specialists" & instead of buying tickets they made donations. 3. the satellite beacon was held onto the outside of the sub with zip ties. 4. when Lochridge (the whistleblower) quit, Stockton Rush asked HIS FINANCE DIRECTOR if she wanted to be the pilot and she was like "sir I am an accountant" and the experience of having her boss ask his accountant to be the pilot made her so freaked out that she ALSO quit the company 5. the carbon fiber used to make the hull was bought from a deep discount from Boeing because it was past its expiry date for use in airplanes

AND MUCH, MUCH MORE

“A few years later, in 2009, he co-founded OceanGate, with a dream to bring tourists to the ocean world. “I had come across this business anomaly I couldn’t explain,” he recalled. “If three-quarters of the planet is water, how come you can’t access it?”’

Hmmmmm if only there was some sort of answer to this BUSINESS question
