the idea that taylor swift could have seen a headline about a dude being upset he couldn't give her friendship bracelets with his number during her show and went like oh that's tight. i'm going after that one. is absolutely sending me actually

i think we're sooooo used to the general conversation being slut-shamey or super nitpicky about why they aren't a good fit (usually about how she isn't a good fit for him) any time taylor starts getting linked with any man publicly that it just feels kind of refreshing and fun that all i've really seen from swifties AND from the sports world is just some good-natured egging on of a cute flirtation. like all the sportscasters are just like "WOOO GO TRAVIS" and good naturedly teasing him and all the swifties are just giggling about how its been a decade since she's dated an american and i think everyone is pretty clear on it being very early days of what is just a casual thing for the moment. no forecasting about how long it will last, no jokes about the songs she'll write about him if they break up. feels like in middle school when you would push your friend towards their crush and their friends would do the same and you'd all kind of giggle and root it on.

I’m seeing a lot of people talk about the beach theme for 1989 Taylor’s version and how it doesn’t make sense considering the album held such new york / big city themes when it was originally released. But I feel like you guys are all forgetting that back then there actually really was a lot of beach symbolism. The out of the woods mv is literally set at a beach + style mv has a lot of beach imagery, this love + clean has a lot of beach / water imagery, she did a looot of beach getaways at the time with calcium hydroxide lol, the rolling stones photoshoot, her parties at rhode island were especially huge around this time, the jumper shes wearing on the album cover !! I mean the list goes on really. Not to mention it’s also a huge pop album full of summer singles. Also she is no longer that young girl chasing the big city lifestyle and big city fame, she has all of that now. So 1989 Taylor’s version isn’t about the big city, its leaning more into that beach aesthetic that HAS always been there.

she was slutshamed so much during red era...its almost forgotten how bad that was... 2016 was just so terribly worse its more memorable in the consciousness, but she was CONSTANTLY being ragged on for dating in her early 20's.... "SLUT!", if that's the track name, is so powerful and I'm sad it was shalved to keep her "good girl" image a little longer even though she was literally 25 when 1989 came out.
