Reasons an asexual may have (and even like) sexual activities:

Psst, lbpq representation/girls loving each other romantically and/or sexually doesn’t inherently threaten representation for girls loving each other platonically. Lesbians have friends. Bi women have friends. We can be friends with straight lady characters, too! We have besties and sisters and moms and daughters and mentors and bosses and teammates.

Our presence in a story doesn’t magically wipe all traces of non-shippy girl relationships from the plot, and acting like it does just makes me feel like people think f/f love is a contaminant. Stop that.

And this is yet another reason why it’s good to have more than two women characters in any one piece of fiction, so that if two of them are in a romantic relationship, either or both of them can also have platonic relationships with other women.

Decent female representation means more than one or two women having to represent the entirety of women’s behavior and experience.

Completely correct. Mainstream media fiction doesn’t only have a women problem, it has a women-interacting-with-each-other problem. Think of all the fandoms where there’s “a girl” and a bunch of guys.

Be proud of yourself for being out to the people you’ve come out as asexual to. Be proud of yourself for being closeted to the people you haven’t come out as ace to. Both of those have unique difficulties, both are unique challenges, and both can be painful. Both are worthy of pride.

La semana pasada hubo una discusión en el grupo sobre la visibilidad de la asexualidad en organizaciones de la diversidad sexual, y yo propuse que antes de hablar con el Movilh o el MUMS deberíamos tener una presencia más pública, que demuestre algo de organización y de trabajo por parte de la comunidad local. Chile es el 3er país hispanoamericano en tener página en facebook después de Argentina (Yo también soy asexual - Argentina, Asexuales Mendoza∇) y México (Asexualidad Mx, Asexualidad y Asexuales en México).

Since today on the chilean asexual community has a public presence on Facebook!!

Asexuales Chile wants to be a first point of reference about asexuality in our country, helping to educate and build awareness about this sexual orientation. After AVENes, Facebook is the social media with the strongest asexual presence in spanish (mostly closed groups), and Chile is the 3th hispanoamerican country to have a fanpage after Argentina and México.

I don’t know why so many people get hung up on “understanding” different sexualities. People are always saying, “I don’t understand bisexuality. I don’t actually think its real.” And honestly its like, I don’t understand physics but that doesn’t mean I think it’s nonexistent.

You don’t have to have always been asexual to be valid. You don’t have to have always known you were asexual to be valid. If your orientation changed, or it took you longer than the other aces around you to discover it, your asexuality is still real and valid and amazing.

sometimes it’s really scary and sad living in a world that puts so much pressure on romance, when romance doesn’t make a lot of sense to you or scares you or rarely happens.

just because you don’t feel the attraction doesn’t mean you can’t crave the intimacy that comes with romance. and it sucks when u want it, but you can’t make it click with you.

I feel you and I’m with you and I love you and you’re valid. I hope you find the love you need.
