TURNABOUT HONEYMOON - A fic where Apollo Justice and Clay Terran solve a murder together

Fandom: Ace Attorney

Relationship: Apollo Justice/Clay Terran

Words: 73,243

Genre: Casefic

Warnings: AA4 spoilers

Apollo and Clay are enjoying their honeymoon at a B&B in the mountains, the perfect setting for quiet walks on mountain trails and late nights of stargazing. But their good time is cut short when a new acquaintance dies under mysterious circumstances... and right before Apollo's eyes.

This is only the latest in a string of nebulous events plaguing this small mountain town, and local law enforcement is running short on resources. So the case is given to two more vacationers, Sebastian Debeste and Dick Gumshoe, who quickly determine that this death was no accident.

An arrest is ordered, and Apollo immediately takes up the defense, with his new husband right by his side. But who could have committed such an impossible crime?

A complete casefic in the style of an Ace Attorney case, with Apollo as defense attorney, Clay as his assistant, and Sebastian as the rival prosecutor.

Hey, if you don't have something nice to say about other people's creations (gifsets, art, fic etc)

then

don't say anything at all.

You're telling me you think you have a right to give unsolicited criticism on fandom content that someone made for free? No. You don't. There is a huge difference between giving someone constructive criticism when they invite it, and rolling into their comments and replies to tell a creator you don't like their work.

The former is a cooperative collaboration. The latter? It's useless. It's not something the creator asked for, it's not what fandom content is about.

The unsolicited negative opinion of some Internet stranger, even if it's given with the aim to be helpful (which it rarely is, to be honest) often does more harm than good.

Fandom content is first and foremost made for the creator. They write the fic they want to read or post the gifsets they want to see.

They post because they want to share that joy within a community, and if they want constructive criticism they will ask for it and invite trusted individuals they know to offer it.

Also not every creative endeavour is practice "for the real thing". Not everyone wants to improve. Sometimes they just want to make a thing and be satisfied with it.

My new fixation is trying to figure out the ranking of who in ace attorney is legally responsible for the most deaths (speculation based on canon facts allowed but without ranking any hitmen)

Comprehensive results so far are here (beware spoilers for all games). I want to see what I can do to offer some more concrete estimations for the people on the last several bullet points.

@geirutoneido (and any interested bystanders) yeah basically the only competitors for the absolute top spot are the 6-5 mastermind and Bezella, being the only two I think are likely to even break the hundreds, and there's a lot of estimation involved in both of them. And obviously wherever 6-5 mastermind ends up, their lackey trails behind by just a few total bodies.

The question of fourth place is also pretty interesting. DGS2-5's baddie is the favorite to win it, but (assuming we count civil litigation for wrongful death resulting from psychological pressure that leads to suicide) Redd White offers a decent counterbid. The highest specific number of deaths attributed to one person is 16, to the killer in 2-2. Somebody could also get into it about the 1-4 perp, but the question that raises is how many of their "victims" would have died as a result, and how many in that group died specifically as a result of illegal activity carried out by the 1-4 perp. Personally, I think that number is probably low.

I'm unwilling to count the bad ending from AA5 too deeply, since extrapolating from both the characters involved and the events of the AA6 bad endings it seems unlikely that very many people actually died.

Having done a lot of the tallies, very few characters actually leave a body count higher than two or three. There are several with four, one from investigations 1 with eight, and that Bastard from investigations 2 with five. And thaaat's... basically the ranking so far 😊
