destiel blog (sorry)

one of my softer hc’s about the last of us is that during the long months of literally walking across the country, ellie would ask joel to tell her a story and he’s just plagiarize popular movies he used to watch with sarah

joel, after telling a particularly mediocre story about his contracting days: crazy stuff

ellie: that’s the best you got? come on, man

joel: ………so there was once this ogre who lived all alone in a swamp

i interpreted this post as joel telling ellie about shrek as in shrek actually being real

do u ever think about how so much of my chemical romance’s legacy can be attributed to women? from the mostly-female fanbase who were relentlessly mocked and continue to be? from the female-fronted bands like sleater-kinney (and the women who introduced him to it!) that served as huge inspiration for gerard? to the costume designers like colleen atwood, who created the black parade costumes (arguably their most iconic look, an image that has lasted decades) and their killjoy costumes? or marina toybina, whose costumes have completely reshaped both new and old fans’ relationships with the band’s image — not to mention how many of those costumes are overtly inspired by women? or even to people like liza minnelli, whose vocal performance on mama alone helped catapult it into one of their most iconic, beloved tracks? or how a woman inspired their breakthrough album, the one that catapulted them into success, an album where the opening track is named after her? do you ever think about that?

i just think so much al the time about how women have been so pivotal towards my chem’s success and lasting legacy as a band but then how often they r discredited.. how female mcr fans have constantly constantly been mocked, and how both older and younger fans are victim to such vitriol for just.. passionately enjoying a band? or how people like marina toybina and colleen atwood have worked so hard and with such talent in tandem with the band to create iconic costumes and images for the band (but then it gets whittled down to “gerard’s vision”). how female artists have so heavily inspired the band’s sound and image but instead it’s always about the male artists who inspire mcr? or even how i heard so much love for all the men opening for mcr but only ever saw hate for the female-fronted acts like gayle or starcrawlers? idk. i just think about it a lot
