I’m know I’m not the first person to say this, but any newbies on tumblr really need to understand how different this is from a lot of other social media. Particularly tiktok.

I just saw a creator on tiktok reminding followers that it’s actually a problem when someone goes back to the earliest post and watches all the posts chronologically, liking and commenting along the way. The stupid app recognizes it as spam or something and then kinda puts a halt on their account? Literally punishing people for positive engagement?? 🥴🤦‍♀️

I’ve already heard people saying years back how they don’t want to be “creepy” and go through a persons blog, liking and reblogging tons of stuff. But think how many more people are going to be worried about it now, thinking they might do actual damage! Most people, especially younger people, are so used to the way tiktok works now. So please, do not ever worry about this on here. Just remember-

You will never do any harm if you go on a like and reblog fest through someone’s tumblr blog! The only risk you’re taking is to make the blog owner weep for joy!! 😭🤣

Consider for Spiderverse: An Earth where Rio Morales becomes Spiderwoman, her canon event is that she lost her police Captain husband and now tries to protect her son on her own. So when she sees the Spiderman Miles at the Spider Society, and Miguel is telling him about canon events, and how he has to let his father die, and has everyone chase him, spider Rio is one of the few that does not chase him and is pissed at Miguel. This is all hitting far too close to home for her. Because that is her baby. It's a different version of her son, but it's still her son. Anyway this is all my long winded way of saying I want a bunch of variants of Miles mom to kick Miguel's ass.

What about a Patton model who loves kids WAY too much and has incidents of hugging a little too hard or trying to follow them home until the system goes out of range. He also makes ice cream, but in a non-murdery way. The kids love him but parents are often quite creeped out. There have also been some incidents of yknow… kidnapping children… but they had a great time so no harm no foul!

One of my favorite gags from contemporary SCP was from this article about a pointlessly dangerous extradimensional convenience store with layer upon layer of fatal death traps installed at every stage in the shopping process, one of which is a pit full of poisonous snakes below the checkout line. And then there’s a footnote saying that rather than being a confusion of terms between “venomous” and “poisonous” the snakes themselves are actually fangless and completely docile but anyone who falls into the pit and sees the snakes comes under a compulsion to start stuffing the snakes in their mouth

Humans are weird: intrusive thoughts

So I’ve been very sort of interested in whole “humans are weird” thing, but one topic I never really saw was intrusive thoughts, so I figured I’d throw in my two cents!

The Qu’ral were a well-known telepathic species. Of course, there were some others, but these were the most common. So it wasn’t a surprise for one to end up on a ship with a human, and most didn’t think it would be that bad. Sure, humans at this point were somewhat known for their odd tendencies, but nobody expected that the telepathic people would be too bothered by them. After all- most knew humans to be a species that wore their thoughts out in the open.

Clara, the ship’s resident human, was relaxing in the main atrium when the newest crew member, a Qu’ral whose name roughly translated to Indigo, approached her. She waved to xem, but xe didn’t reciprocate. Instead, xe seemed nervous.

“You okay?” Clara asked, startling Indigo somewhat.

The translator buzzed for a few seconds before it properly registered the language Indigo was speaking, starting near the end of the sentence: “-thoughts that are concerning.”

“Huh? Sorry, translator wasn’t on- could you repeat that?”

Indigo’s quills changed to a yellowish color, showing xir concern, “Human-Clara, recently you’ve been having some.. concerning thoughts regarding your crewmates, is something happening?”

After a few seconds of confusion, Clara seemed to realize what xe meant, “Oh! You mean the stuff about uh.. killing them?”

Xir three eyes widened, quills changing to a bright green-yellow color in xir alarm. “Yes. I wanted to ask you if you are a threat to the crew- you do not display behaviors that would indicate that, but..”

The woman laughed, shaking her head, “No, I’m no more of a threat than you are. Those thoughts are called intrusive thoughts.. basically they’re thoughts you don’t want to have, and I have no plans on actually acting them out.”

Xe sighed (or, whatever the closest to sighing that xe could do was) in relief, xir quills fading back to a more neutral shade. Xe sat beside Clara, now curious. “Human-Clara, do you think that you could tell me more about this? Your mind seems.. fascinating.”

From then on, Indigo and Clara were barely ever seen apart- it seemed that the two became quite close, bonding over a love of psychology and learning how the mind works.

In which Papyrus gets a diagnosis

Okay, but humans have a very faint bioluminescence. We can’t see it, but it’s there. What if other aliens could see it and thought we just KNEW we glowed? It’s a huge evolutionary disadvantage and stuff, so it wouldn’t make sense. So aliens are confused why we glow and humans are confused because “we glow??” For example:

Alien: Human, did you notice that you are glowing much brighter today? It might be a disadvantage if we get attacked later.

Human: I’m sorry, I what? Humans glow in the dark??

Alien:…Yes. I thought you knew this? Every member of your species glows. I’ve also noticed that the stronger the glow, the healthier the human mentally and physically.

Human: Um, hang on, let me just ask the scientist on board. I knew humans were weird, but not like this.

Alien:…You don’t see that you are bioluminescent?

Human 2: Oh yeah, humans do glow like that. Well, it’s too faint for our eyes to see, so most people don’t know.

Alien: HOW.

I wish there were more talk about the stripessss

Humans are space orcs because every animal on our planet has adapted to not have the whites of their eyes showing in a normal state of being yet humans have. I think it’s safe to assume that many aliens would also lack whites in their eyes in their normal states as well given just how rare it is on earth.

Most creatures who show whites of their eyes are in extreme amounts of stress and terror.

Yet humans have this as a default setting practically.

I imagine your alien friends would be confused at first and any newcomers would think something was wrong. They would think perhaps you could sense something the others couldn’t and your body was giving off warning signals, much like when a white tail deer raises its tail to show the white underside to signal to the rest of the herd that something dangerous is near by.

“Why is the human in such distress? Why aren’t you guys worried? Your laughing at me? What’s going on”

You would once again have to calmly explain that humans are not terrified all the time and that the reason we have our eyes this way is actually for better nonverbal communication. Having the whites so exposed means you can tell exactly where we are looking much easier and from further away.

Should you be in danger and can’t verbalize what you see the person near you could easily follow your gaze and understand without giving your position away.

Humans were once prey who were subject to going silent when a bigger predator was nearby after all! They learn to admire this trait and it comes in handy when exploring new places :3

Humans are space orcs, but humans are real fucking sneaky and don't tell anyone they're predators after realizing that other sentient species are all prey. It starts out as wanting to assimilate without any negative stigma, but eventually they realize that we're really alone as sentient predators.

So q human goes on a research ship and that ship gets stranded on a deathworld and everyone freaks put bc they don't know how to handle this but the human's just like 'build shelter, hunt food, start a fire' and they're all like 'hunt food???!!' And they human's like 'shit'.

So they see a human climb trees, throw shit, track prey and realize 'oh no, that thing could kill us' but the human's helping and they don't really have the man power to get rid of them.

And eventually they realize the whole pack bonding thing is stronger than the predatory instincts and are relieved
