This is how I feel describing most of my personal favorite characters.
Eat Your Young seems to be to be directly inspired by A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift, a satire written in the 1720s about the poverty in Ireland and the unhelpful solutions offered by the church and aristocracy at the time, which argues that the poor Irish should sell their children to the rich to be eaten, which would prevent them from burdening their families and the country and instead make them useful. it’s satire, of course, but played straight the entire time.
and here is Hozier, 300 years later, making the exact same point. only the set dressing has changed. with all the abuses people are suffering in war and under capitalism, and with the cost of living and rate of poverty rising with no end in sight, is it not more humane and just as exploitative to simply eat the children the government will not feed? would they not recommend it themselves if only they thought they could get away with it?
the state of the world and the powers that be will continue to try and use us all up and throw us aside anyway.
it’s quicker and easier to eat your young.
how can you tell if someone has had s*x before?

My mom was having trouble using they/them prnouns with some friends for a while. One day she said “I think the problem is that I haven’t changed the way I view their gender outside of their pronouncs which adds several extra steps in converting binary pronouns to they/them then conjugating it. So I need to shift how I see them as a gendered person entirely to make using their pronouns easier.” And since then she hardly ever messes up.

A lot of the cis people in my life need this
This is literally why people mess up pronouns and why it’s a problem.
Like the reason you’re not calling me “they” is because you still think of me as gendered the way you initially assumed. It’s not just the pronouns I want you to change, they only serve as an acknowledgement of the gender I want you to adjust your perspective to. If you did that, you wouldn’t struggle with it.

When I was a kid, my mom always hated that Candy Kong was a gorilla, but still had to have curves so you'd know she was the "girl" one. And yeah, fair, that's sexist as hell. But, recently, I got to thinking...
Is it ever explicitly said that Candy Kong is a gorilla?
Sure, she's a Kong, but that also encompasses Diddy and Dixie, who are apparently some kind of monkey and a chimp. To be a Kong, you just need to be a simian resident of Kong Island.
So. She's not a gorilla. She has the simian snout, and body hair, but she also has feet that are halfway between simian and human, long legs, and humanoid breasts...
My God.
Candy Kong is an Australopithecus.
#this is literally a picture of Ardipithecus ramidus#she even has the divergent hallux just like Ardi
Oh shit you're right, that is Ardipithecus ramidus! Google Images has led me astray again :( Okay, so Candy Kong is Ardipithecus ramidus, mystery solved.
I redid the pose from a painting I made two years ago (left). I usually don’t remake newer paintings, but this one bothered me from the moment I finished it, since the original pose felt too restrained and uncomfortable. I wanted it to feel more confident and free! I feel a lot better about the painting now.
