I miss the days when, no matter how slow your internet was, if you paused any video and let it buffer long enough, you could watch it uninterrupted
Just a PSA that tumblr monitors our messages for explicit content.
I cannot see anywhere in the guidelines that states messages, only posts. Is that even allowed?
This email is a reply from my appeal, but even the termination email doesn’t state it.
signal boosting
this obviously sucks and is worth being upset about, but also reminder to treat any unencrypted online communication as being subject to monitoring by both corporations and the state.
I think this is so neat and to all my trans followers - if you ever need help remembering just how valid and real you are, please look at this!
Happy Trans Day of Visibility to you all, trans people have always existed and will always exist, you're valid and loved and completely accepted with me and I support and love you to the moon and back and beyond.

Wiseagator: to commemorate a D&D party losing their wisdom checks against some random alligators
Briar Wolf
In certain parts of the forest, telling someone to "go pick a wolf boquet" is a more polite version of telling them to f*ck off.
So happy with the lining on this!
STAY SAFE!! [ID: the Gilbert Baker pride flag with the words “Happy pride to all those who are unable to celebrate openly and safely. You are loved and seen!” in all-caps black text over it. /end ID]
"Doomed by the narrative" is sexy and all but i think the narrative wanting to save a character who is utterly set on dooming themselves isnt as much of a thing and it's so good as a concept
[image id: a news story cover with a picture of two elderly gay men. the headline reads “does kink belong at pride? we asked lgbt elders and they asked if we were cops”]
Maids, cleaners, janitors, and sanitation workers are all the most important people of civilization by far. Even 12 hours without them is VERY noticable and they simply need to be highly compensated for it
'Six AM', 1930 - William Wolfson
Yall wanna hear a kinda funny, kinda sad story about my grandmother and hetero-normativity?
Ok, so... when my grandmother was in her 50s (I was an infant), she met a woman at the Unitarian Church. And, as can happen when you meet your soul mate, this event made it impossible for her to deny parts of herself that she had fiercely hidden her whole life.
All the drama- their affair being found out, the divorce with my grandfather, the court battle over who got the house, happened while I was a baby. Even in my earliest memories, it's just Mama Jo and Oma, and my grandfather lived elsewhere (first his own apartment, then a nursing home, then with us.)
But here's the thing- no one ever explained any of this to me. No one ever sat down and was like "hey, Rosie, so do you know what a lesbian is?" It was the 90s. It was Texas. I think my mom was still kinda processing all this, and just assumed that like... I was gonna figure it out. Don't mention it, let it just be normal. Like I think my mom thought that if she explained the situation, she would be making it weird? I dunno.
But like. In the 90s, in all the movies I had seen and books I had read, do you know how many same sex couples I had seen? Like. 0. Do you know how many "platonic best friend/roommates" I had seen? A lot. I had no context, is what I'm saying.
I literally thought this was a Golden Girls, roommates, besties situation until I was like...I dunno, 11? 12?
It was actually their parrot, an African Grey named Spike, imitating my grandmothers voice saying "Johanna, honey, it's getting late", that triggered the MIND BLOWN moment as I realized that *there's only one master bedroom and it only has 1 waterbed* when all the pieces finally clicked.
Anyway. I think it's a real important thing for kids to know queer people exist, for a lot of reasons, but also because kids can be clueless and it's embarrassing to have your grandmother be outted by a parrot because everyone just thought you'd figure it out on your own.
Anyway, here is my grandma and her wife, Oma, after they moved to Albuquerque to be artsy gay cowboys and live their best life. They helped run a "Lesbian Dude Ranch" out there (basically just with funding and financial support. As Oma has explained "traditionally, most lesbians don't have a lot of money" so they wrote the checks and let the younger ladies actually run the ranch.)
Wild Dogs see a Domesticated Dog
African wild dogs are one of my favorite animals. Those huge round circle ears and tricolored coats. I love you African wild dogs
FanFiction.net is not gone.
Right now it's a victim of DNS (Domain Name Service) spoofing. This means that a malicious party is trying to steal traffic from FFn by purchasing a very similar domain.
So if you want to read fanfiction and not see leaves, you have have to type out "www.fanfiction.net".
Please share so people stop panicking.
Have a sign from Grand Marais, MI that’s haunted me since childhood
Have a sign from the lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove, NS
i’m sorry but this was way too badass and terrifying to keep in the tags
I deeply regret that I do not have a photo of the warning sign at Geysir in Iceland that said essentially “This water is 90 degrees Celsius. It will burn you badly. The nearest hospital is 50 km away.”
And then they had little knee-high ropes to keep you back from the geyser. You want to step over the rope and parboil yourself after reading the sign, Iceland kinda figures that’s between you and the geyser.
