That's a great question! When developing my comic, I knew I wanted a gorgon character, but I also knew I didn't want to have to constantly be keeping track of whether or not her actions should be turning others to stone. I wanted it to be easy for her to interact with everyone equally. So for the world of this comic, I changed up the mythology.
I explain it a bit in some very early comics from a couple years ago :)
