hi this is my art blog

well count me in as one of the many people crawling back to tumblr lol :')

i'm gonna try posting here again and i have a few years worth of backlog to go through to catch up to the present, so i'll start posting a bunch of stuff soon

since it's been so long, here's a little life update and self intro: hi i'm courtney, you may have found me here from illustrated gifs (that cat bakery post is still going strong huh), various fandom fanart, or work on pesterquest. by day i'm a background painter in animation! you can find my store, website, and various socials in the links dropdown on my blog

also thank you to anyone who sent nice asks in the past few years! i cleared everything out just to start fresh, but feel free to (re)ask anything you'd like ^_^

process vid for gamzee's room for pesterquest! this one really shows how messy the initial layout sketch can be. this was also an instance where the sprite was finished before i started coloring, so it was a helpful placeholder that i could pick colors while referencing it so everything looked cohesive in the end :o)

Anonymous asked:

you had stated you used procreate in past tense, correct? what program and brushes are you using now?

overall, both past and present, photoshop has been my go-to. i don't really keep track of my brushes much, but it's mostly a lot of kyle brushes or kyle brushes that i've tweaked. definitely the gouache brushes, some pencil or charcoal things, also the runny inkers. biiiig default soft brush is also a fave for general gradients (+dissolve mode if i want grittiness)

i still will pick up procreate occasionally, but it's been a little while. i used it more a few years ago when i wanted to draw pen-to-screen as opposed to using my old intuos, but i've since then gotten a cintiq so i generally prefer using that on my desktop setup with photoshop and more screen real estate. procreate is now more of a backup or for mobile work

process video of drawing the prospit background for jade's route of pesterquest! this is one of my favorites because the golden palette is so punchy and iconic, but also trying to get gothic cathedral architecture down was a challenge lol
