In retrospect, I can’t help but think that the bit in Star Trek: First Contact where all of the Enterprise crew are talking about Zephram Cochrane like he was some kind of visionary hero who dreamed the future into being while the actual man is depicted as a capitalistic lecher who wants nothing more than to make a lot of money and retire to an island full of naked women is kind of a meta-commentary on the cult surrounding Gene Roddenberry.
