I lost interest in men a few years ago, fell in love with a non-binary person, and now I give them their T shots
Life and love are unpredictable
And "queer" is a great word that all of us like and self-identify with (along with our other, more specific labels), and I love that no matter what else happens, we're still, always queer
I really don’t understand why some people are so hostile to the idea that attraction can be fluid. Let people love how they love.
My attraction has been stationary — ace as fuck my whole life — but my gender identity has changed. Let people experience love and gender however it unfolds.
I think the answer to why are people hostile toward it comes in three camps.
1. People for whom it always has been static instead of fluid, who just cannot fathom that other people don’t experience the world the same way they do (a lot of problems boils down to that honestly)
2. People who’ve had their identities disrespected so much by others that the notion of it being fluid starts to feel like more disrespect so they reject it reject it outright “You identify this way NOW, but that might/will change later, you know.”
3. People who build their entire life, sense of self, personality and politics around a specific label, and then get pants-shittingly scared at the thought that the thing they built their entire being around might no longer be true. It’s especially bad when they use this one label to declare other groups The Enemy. When you’re scared of having your whole sense of self upended or being labeled a fake or a traitor by your in group, it becomes a sort of comfort to declare “MY identity won’t change because NO ONE’S ever changes, because we just are what we are no ifs ands or buts! You’re either This or you’re That, and I am This and always will be!”
