I agree! Especially because both of them are represented by an eye with inverted / contrasting colors.
Also, I see that a few people are calling this eye Metheus, and I'm a bit confused? Wasn't it established that Metheus is the queen who saved the king (The AFW) from being taken over by Them?
Also, I’m guessing the Ancients used to worship Alter, and then they started to worship it’s conterpart.

one of these quotes is said after the fuelweaver kills the player(s)
while looking at the fuelweaver's page, it's mentioned that the fuelweaver is confirmed to be male, and it's quotes imply it was an ancient
metheus is also confirmed to be female, so this could also be considered evidence that the fuelweaver and metheus are the ancient king and queen
