@confusedaboutalotofthings-thx

actively engaging in Lesbianism and being Jewishly in love with my girlfriend Also very confused in general about existence and 👀The Void👀 | she/they/ king and queen | 20ish

Actually, I want to do a study of regret rates for Harry Potter-themed tattoos versus regret rates for gender confirmation surgeries, because my naive suspicion is that the former are considerably higher at this point.

Oh this poor man

some of these decisions are tragic

This was totally the post that inspired this.

It is actually way better for 100 addicts to get their fix on pain pills than a single person in pain go without. I call this the "Torture is bad" principle. You should be able to get the good stuff forever after a single doctor's visit. If you're worried about addicts fund rehab centers and needle exchanges instead of torturing people.

Among other things if you can't use the legit market you turn to the black market anyway.

if you're worried about addiction, build a society where people get their basic needs met, including pain management.

insane how many people just have these incredible artists in their families who get no recognition outside of crocheting circles because this art form is devalued for its association with women

in my country, the word for crocheting, is used metaphorically, to compliment a surgeon’s work.

every AFAB person my mother’s age and older, had practiced this craft at one point on another.

My mom has made literal paintings, that decorate our house for years (I’ll come back with pictures when I visit next) you can only see that they are crocheting when you go very close.

as promised here’s my mom’s crocheting “paintings”

There is another one but it had been stored many years ago, (i remember it from my childhood) and sadly it is probably damaged by mold, it depicted wild horsed running in nature

@jaijabbers hey would you mind explaining that further? I had a look at them, zoomed in, and they look exactly like the tapestries (technically I think they’re needlepoints/embroidery) my grandmother used to make, that we have at home - single stitches into a binca background, all oriented in a single direction to create a picture like pixels. I looked up crocheted tapestry and the examples I can see on google look quite different.

However, you seem to actually know what you’re talking about, so I guess there’s probably different types?

You know what you’re absolutely right. I asked my friend who knows more about it than me and she confirmed what you said.

Oh, fair enough and thanks for answering! I know shit all about crochet so I was 100% ready to believe there was some type that looked like that, or possibly some other definitions I was unaware of. They can be so regional as well.

After all, it was yesterday (trying to look this up) that I found out that I grew up with the French definition of tapestry used at home and English speakers do not, in fact, call that “tapestry”. I am a first language English speaker but my grandparents spent a lot of time in France so apparently when my grandma was sitting and doing tapestries she was doing embroidery instead. Americans call it needlepoint but I’ve never actually heard that used in Britain either.

Anyway, apparently I’ve been using tapestry wrong for thirty-something years 😅
